booked as a moderately easy hike, devils garden is a great hike in Arches National Park. I got an early start and beat the stormy weather. You can explore Pine Tree Arch, Tunnel Arch and the famous Landscape Arch along the trail. A joy to hike in the spring, summer is a different story in the high heat thus it's name.

Devil's Bridge is a 50 foot long natural sandstone arch located at the end of the Devil's Bridge trail in the Dry Creek Basin of Sedona. The hike was a wonderful trip up a red sandstone valley with many panoramic views. The arch is truly a natural wonder. Braver hikers than I can climb the rocks up to the bridge and walk across it!
A few weeks ago i went out poppy hunting and drew a blank, but ended up with plenty of time for a walk and a scout out of a location i had only been to in a hurry or in the dark, I parked myself just of the edge of the southdowns way at Devils Dyke North of Hove in the South Downs national park, it was a week before midsummer so very late and a beautiful golden glow on everything

Skrad, Croatia
Devil's Pass is one of Croatia's most beautiful canyons and part of a protected nature reserve; it's a narrow gorge cut by the stream Jasle through rocks as high as 100 meters
I wish all my contacts a great weekend!

The pentagram (the sign of devil) is really at a church in Hannover (Marktkirche). The reason is, the devil should thought that he was already in this church. So he didn't enter the church.
Scarry story behinde the sign: Shortly after the sign was build at the church the plague raged in Hannover.

The Devil Inside
I THOUGHT I WALKED ALONE
BUT HE WAS THERE.
I THOUGHT I STAYED AWAKE
BECAUSE OF MY DREAMS
BUT HE WAS IN THEM.
I THOUGHT I SAW YOU WITH MY EYES
BUT IT WAS HE ..WHO SAW YOU.
I THOUGHT YOU SHARED YOUR LAST BREATH WITH ME
BUT IT WAS HE WHO TOOK IT.
NOW I SIT ALONE IN MY DARK CELL
WAITING FOR HIS RETURN
BUT HE NEVER VISITS.

I think this frozen waterfall at Devil's Punchbowl looks like a wedding dress. Can't tell very well but this is a tall falls (37m or 121 ft). The falls is frozen from top to bottom creating an ice volcano. Near the top its cracked allowing water to escape down the sides. It was very cold standing there.
Devil's Tower National Monument
Crook County, Wyoming
The name Devil's Tower originated in 1875 during an expedition led by Col. Richard Irving Dodge when his interpreter misinterpreted the name to mean Bad God's Tower. This was later shortened to the Devil's Tower. The Lakota Indians called it Mato Tipila...which means “Bear Tower" as a result of this American Indian legend: six Sioux girls were picking flowers when they were chased by bears. Feeling sorry for them, the Great Spirit raised the ground beneath the girls. The bears tried to climb the rock, but fell off, leaving their scratch marks on the sides.
It rises dramatically 1,267 feet above the surrounding terrain and the summit is 5,112 feet above sea level and was the first declared United States National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt.

This beautiful spot is called the Devil's Pulpit and is located in the heart of the Trossachs, it's a wee bit tricky to find and get down to but well worth the effort (be careful on the scramble down into the gorge if you decide to visit it yourself).
I took this standing in cold water almost up to my waist, madness perhaps but the composition seemed worth it to me at the time! Looking back, I think I was right :grinning:
Garganta del Diablo or Devils Throat. Its the main part of the falls. It creates an absurd amount of spray and falls a few hundred metres below.
The Argentinian side of the falls is said that you 'feel' it more. I would probably agree with that. The amount of spray and thunderous roar you get is astounding.
This was perhaps one of the hardest things to shoot this day. The amount of spray (you can see it on the left) was being blown over to the viewing platform. Thus making it a game of 'cat and mouse' protecting the camera and filters.
I was however lucky to snap this little beauty. Right before the park shut. A successful day.

The waterfall Devil's Mill in the german Rhön isn't easy to photograph. There's to much stones, branches cluttering the area so that it's hard to find a clean composition. This here's the best I could come up with.
I had to go for bw and some contrast reductions to get a cleaner look here. After all the water should be the focus here.
I used a polarizer and a lee 0.9 ND to get a good exposure.
PS: there are still a lot Seychelle photos in line but I wanted to provide a little change in between :-)
cheers
American Indians use the Tower as a place of
worship. Most of the ceremonies that take place are
small groups or individuals, who have gathered for
prayer, pipe ceremonies, the tying of prayer cloths, or
vision quests. Group rituals also continue here,
including sweat lodge and sun dance ceremonies.
Devils Tower National Monument issues special use
permits for these observances.
An umbel of white Devil's Parsley flowers. It's also called Cow Parsley but that's not sinister enough.
Nearly lost a bagful of camera accessories here as a hugely strong squall blew it into the stream just behind where I took this shot.
Taken at the edge of Llyn Idwal looking towards Devil's Kitchen in Snowdonia, North Wales at dusk..... such a beautiful place. Funny old thing but Paul Forgham never flinched as I went for a swim to catch my bag......... getting the shot before we lost the light being his priority - Priceless........ Cheers mate, I can still hear you laughing now!
Best seen large, thanks for your time folks.
So I went out on a random 60+ Mile drive the other night and bumped into a new friendly face which was nice... I was shooting away and we got chatting to find out we where both on here.
Anyways this was 40 minutes before Sunset captured up on Devils Dyke in Brighton.
“Like the Sirens who lured Ulysses to a blissful yet certain death, the northwest face of the Devil’s Thumb continues to tempt the alpinist onto her flanks" Dieter Klose. Late night alpenglow adds a soft touch, however few peaks inspire the same mix of fear and respect as the Devil's Thumb. A relatively low altitude peak at 2,767 m (9,077 ft) the notorious northwest face rises 2,042 m (6,700 ft) from its base. With an average angle of 67 degrees it is considered the steepest wall of that magnitude in all of North America.
While the peak itself was first climbed by Fred Becky in 1946, the northwest face remains unclimbed after five decades of attempts by scores of climbers including some of the world’s top mountaineers. Most never even made it to the start of the face, while at least three teams have perished in the process. Dieter Klose who in 1982 made it halfway up the route, higher than anybody else alive, commented in the American Alpine journal that ‘as a rock climb it’s a perfect place to commit suicide”. The warm coastal winds, extreme Alaskan precipitation levels, and Patagonian style variability in weather all combine to make the conditions on the face notoriously slippery and prone to avalanche. A small theoretical climbing window is possible during the spring transition when storms can create thaw-freeze conditions and stabilise the face however many believe the level of weather variability is so extreme that it will never be climbed. No one has attempted the face since 2003 when two Canadian climbers perished.
The mountain was known as Taalkhunaxhkʼu Shaa in native Tlingit, which translates to the "the Mountain That Never Flooded". The thumb is located in the Stikine Icecap region of the Alaska–British Columbia border, near Petersburg, and is often simply identified as Boundary Peak 71 on survey maps.

Well what can I say about the devils marbles, I genuinely think they are a photographers paradise and that I could spend a month exploring and shooting these ancient granite formations. However with only one night there I madly shot sunset, through the night and sunrise and was lucky enough to have some fantastic light whilst I was there.
This shot was taken about an hour before sunrise just as a beautiful warm glow began to play at the edge of the horizon.
