The Dendrobium derryi is found in Borneo (Kalimantan, Sabah and Sarawak), Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra at elevations of 700 to 1700 meters (2,296 to 5,577 feet). This is a small orchid which favours hot to warm growing conditions. It is an epiphyte with canes carrying leaves that bloom in spring on short inflorescences, with just one or two flowers close to each cane. The flowers are about 2.5 cm (1 inch) across. { Don't know this is scented or not. :o( }


This orchid is popularly grown in the town areas. It likes warmer temperatures and is a hardy plant. The genus dendrobium is large and comprise about 1,200 species. Many dendrobium species are available through online stores for US$15 to US$30.
