After a long day of run and gun at work, I decided that some railfan sweelight run and gun was what I needed to unwind on the way home. Norfolk Southern train 38Q was just starting west down the Lurgan Branch, so I headed that way. The short train was moving faster than I could on the country roads, so I headed for a "safe" spot where I knew I could get a decent wedge at a crossing in plenty of time.
As I came over the ridge my windshield was filled with the golden glow of the setting sun, and the lines of the road and power poles yelled at me to just stop right there and shoot. I pulled into someone's driveway as the gates went down and the SD70ACe leader popped out of from behind the barn.
On a golden evening ....and the dust from the road caused the haze in the background.

Had a wonderful walk this evening with Griffin, he's not had me all to himself much since Harry came along, we had quite a giggle, it's a glorious evening.
Hmm, I uploaded a couple of other pics but Flickr ate them or something. Or maybe it hates my iPhone.

Beneath those rugged elms, that yew-tree's shade,
Where heaves the turf in many a mould'ring heap,
Each in his narrow cell for ever laid,
The rude Forefathers of the hamlet sleep.

With many thanks to Mr. G (for naming me his "bomb contact" and Galia (for your heart-warming testimonial).
(Just a quick upload, I am still "on the road", heading to Warsaw tomorrow. Thank you for all your emails and visits to my stream. I will try to catch up later.)
Great early spring day. Found a little country road , a loop about 10 miles long. Got about 80 images. A awesome find..
I wanted to end this glorious week with a little sunshine. Have a great week-end all!

Cow Country #3
The sky full of clouds for the first time since spring in these parts.
This is Placerville Rd, in Folsom, CA. It runs between White Rock Rd, and E. Bidwell Street in Folsom. It runs parallel to abandoned rail road tracks. The road itself has been basically abandoned and never really used until the population boom in the area, now it is used by some.

Andy hesitated to pull over for this shot along the highway, but I promised to work quick. The bus was parked in front of a super creepster house. I wanted to cross the road to get a little closer, but no go.
There is something clean and refreshing about the country...

This land will be developed starting next year I think... a new addition to the city of Folsom, unfortunately.
