Something will have gone out of us as a people if we ever let the remaining wilderness be destroyed. We simply need that wild country available to us, even if we never do more than drive to its edge and look in.

Had to drive inland away from Lake Superior to get some fall colors....well worth the drive I'd say; a quick stop in Comment one to capture the yellow, wish I could have gotten down on the forest floor for a different perspective....
"Isn't it strange how the leaves can change,
From green to orange and gold.
Isn't it queer how the leaves disappear,
When the wind is high and cold...." The author is....?

I am going to be so embarrassed about this shot soon but for the present let me tell you that it is the first time I have done the texture thing and I am delighted that I managed it at all. Help and advice gratefully accepted.
A place for the soul to go for contemplation and rejuvenation...Distressed Jewel is in here making the picture properly in mood...

Though this song is about West Virginia it seems right for this North Carolina country home.
Listen to John Denver sing Country Roads
Another collaboration, this image was provided by Bill and Judy at j/bimages. Many thanks to both of them for giving me permission to post process some of their images. I love these old country homes regardless of the condition, I'm sure they all have beautiful stories to tell.
Thank you Flickr Friends, I appreciate your visits, comments, invites and favs.

Lubken Canyon Road takes you from Highway 395 to Alabama Hills and the Mt. Whitney Portal in the Eastern Sierra's. A gorgeous place a sunrise. Usually there's horses and cows in these meadows.
On the way home from visiting friends at their lake home in Wisconsin, we had to detour around the huge Country Thunder music festival. We came upon our own version.

all visitors and friends; thanks for you viewing and have a nice week....
A light early morning mist above the paddocks.
We have just spent a week visiting friends and family in Victoria and South Australia. I spent an early morning driving around country roads in the Coonawarra area of South Australia. No seascapes but some lovely light, and landscape compositions were plentiful... This photo taken at about 5.30am some 40 minutes before sunrise...
Went to Wandlebury Country park today, a really lovely place for a walk. Took me ages to get them to stand like that.
