On the way back to the cottage from Chandos Lake (see yesterdays photo), I had to stop the car for this view. There is another photo in Comments.
2 pictures to make this pano. The DJI camera on this drone is very powerful. It has a lot going on that a GoPro does not. There's just something about the clarity and vividness it captures at such a great distance. I was going to go with a special gimbal for my GoPro thinking it would be a far better camera, but it seems I can save some money and stick with the DJI cam. The ability to save DNG files and work with them so easily in Lightroom makes this all such a fun game to play. Its pretty addictive too! Going to be heading to some different locations this week now that I have an idea of what this thing can do.
Last rays of sun on a summer's evening on the Winnipeg River in northwestern Ontario. Oil on canvas (11x14, sold)
Up on the snowmobile bridge that takes you through this area of the woods, the entrance to McCrae lake is a few hundred meters down this river. This image was constructed using images that got saved in my Photostream (iCloud backup of photos thing for non-apple users).. I luckily had synced before I accidentally deleted these photos from my phone. Lower res than it would have been but atleast the image is not lost!
This is a small falls but very natural and beautiful. There is shelf of gneiss rock on the side which is good for photos.
These images wete taken for my book "Ontario's Waterfalls", a guide to 600 Ontario Waterfalls
A trio of Northern Pikes caught on Canada Day. Mine is the one in the middle (21" long, 1.75 pounds), and the other two were caught by my dad and aunt.
This is also my 500th Flickr photo!

Arden, Ontario
I spent the weekend at a cottage in Arden, Ontario for my friend Elliot's birthday. While everyone was sleeping in the afternoon I went out for a hike in the freezing cold to check out the local scenery.

Here in Northern Ontario, the firey red and orange of fall has faded to a light brown, yellow & green. With a slight sunset, the dim glow pink and orange light really reflect off of the yellow grasses and bare birch bark. I zoomed my iPhone to about 1.5x to captue slightly less wide individual shots, then I took about 35 images of the scene. It took a long while to stitch in Lightroom, and the dimensions after the stitch are 21500x8000.
Summer, to me, is what makes all that crap we endure all the rest of the year worthwhile. It always has been. It's adventure, fun, friendship, simplicity. And this, to me, is summer. Taken in cottage-country, Gracefield, Quebec - near Lac Blue Sea.
