One of the leftovers from a lovely weekend spent at my friend's cottage this past July. How quickly these seasons pass, and a new one is upon us!
I find this mural to be super problematic. It made me uncomfortable as a kid and here it still is, making me uncomfortable.
This HDR is made in Photomatix from 5 images. I then added the Orton effect. This image speaks more to the way the scene felt. I love this spot. Finally working on some images made at a friend's cottage.

This is an iconic image of a summer sunset in the cottage country of northwestern Ontario, Canada. Knife painting on stretched canvas (oil, 11 x 14 in, sold).
a combination shot from years ago on a konica minolta D5 digital slr and a milky way sky from a newer nikon d600.
Drove to Midland for a wedding. Haven't been here in 15 years, but nothing has changed.
Made Rick stop for a quick portrait.
Frist attempt at some night photography with my quadcopter. The camera can capture up to 1600iso and up to 8 sec shutter. It takes a couple attempts of each shot to get one that is still enough so that there isn't any motion blur in the lights. This is a 6 photo panorama and as you can see the right side of the image is slightly sharper than the left. This is due to the copter handling head on wind better than wind from the side (Spinning the copter left-right to take the photo changes the direction of the wind it is facing.) It was basically completely still (no wind) down on the ground, you can see that the water is near flat where the moon is reflecting, yet still there is wind at 300m, so I guess i'll have to deal with the small amout of shake. In the distance you can see the Honey Harbour area to the far right, Midland/Penetenguishene to the mid right, which is actually across a large body of water from Honey Harbour. Moving left you can see the lights of Victoria Harbour and Waubashene. I'll be hoping for some nice weather nearing the week of the 20th because it will be the first chance I've had to capture a full moon scape with my copter since buying it last month. This will allow for some lower ISO which will reduce noise and that will help things out a lot.

A favorite viewpoint atop a rocky island in the Winnipeg River, northwestern Ontario, Canada. Oil painting on stretched canvas (11x14 in).
I've never seen a dock spider this big. It's as big as a tarantula.
Wish I had a better angle... took this image upside down close to touching the water.
That reminds me I need to get a waterproof case just in case right.

I once owned a little red convertible. I had some of the best times driving that car. The most enjoyable time was driving around the Halliburton area (cottage country) of central Ontario and driving along one of the beautiful lakes. I ended up there because I took a wrong turn. I'll never forget this wonderful journey!
