Last weekend I went to see my sister and brother-in-law's new cottage.
A nearly full moon and some fast moving clouds made perfect conditions for some long exposure photography.

This cottage is real, it's situated on a country road in the country hinterland in Victoria, Australia (near the town of Rushworth). Shot on a recent jourmey inland, it stands as a real relic of our past. I have no idea of it's history or age but would guess it's probably from the mid-1800's and a pioneer house. It's so well preserved it's almost like a movie set. I felt like I had walked into a classic Australian pioneer scene from the 1800's. A bit like the Wild West in the US.
I wondered what secrets it knows and what things happened here. In one room I saw an old steel double bed and I imagined those that might have lived here. Someone lived here long ago there is no doubt of that, their children probably played here and perhaps were born here. It wont be there for ever and probably in a few years will turn to dust and be forgotten. I'm glad I had the opportunity to be there and see it.

This is round the back of the cottage with the chimney I photographed earlier. After taking several exposures I noticed the reflection of the sky on the window to the right. I repositioned the camera to fit the window and some of the Milky Way in the frame.
Also an optical phenomenon which is apparent here (that I've never captured before) is the 'Airglow' seen as a green hue in the sky, not to be mistaken for an aurora (I wish!).
Mum is learning to cook - Cottage Pie is the latest effort (she was calling it Shepherds Pie, but I'm reliably informed (you know who you are hehehe!) that unless there is a dead sheep in it, its a Cottage Pie)

Cottages in the High Street, Much Wenlock, Shropshire. 19th century but probably with an earlier timber frame, painted stone rubble exterior.
Our dining room. The chairs were all car boot sale/flea market finds which we sanded and painted and cost £10 in total. My Dad gave me the Bush valve radio; it works and has a fabulous tone. The lampbase was 50p from a car boot sale, now sanded and painted, and I covered the shade in Amy Butler Lotus fabric. The curtains I made with fabric from the Cath Kidston outlet store which is also where the oilcloth came from. The "tea for two" is Carltonware green floxglove pattern. Our cottage was built between 1500-1550.

My wife was driving me around and stopping anywhere that looked photographic. We spotted this little cottage and I took several shots, different angles and magnifications.
