Loring Corners is comprised of a series of buildings originally developed for automobile dealerships and referred to as "automobile row" for the first half of the 20th century. The area includes this charming alley near Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis. Today, the complex's tenants range from restaurants to technology firms. This image was captured during blue hour in early summer.

this is from a personal project I have been working on for the past year.
corners.
feeling cornered.
standing in a corner.
put someone in their corner.
...
given that we mostly ignore corners there are a lot of phrases around them.
corners are ends and beginnings and sometimes they tell a story.

This photography lark allows you to drag your self out of bed before dawn, venture out in the dark, drive miles to somewhere you do not know and then paddle around in the corner of nowhere.
You also get to experience the peace of solitude, smell the early morning log fires burning on the narrow boats and watch a pearl sky develop across the river.
A cozy corner in the heart of Quedlinburg. There were lots of them tucked around little side streets in this town in the Harz Mountains in Germany. It was fun to just wander around at night and stumble into them. I liked this one particularly for the effect of the lamplight.

The kind of photo that Ansel Adams* might have taken, maybe lacking a strong focal point but he'd have known he could get it to print out well.

July 24th - 31st, 2012 - We got home from the pendulum tour too early to quit for the summer so after a little off time to regroup, we took off on a small loop in northern New Mexico, exploring some new places and revisiting some old favorites.
Had spotted this abandoned silo a few weeks ago, and kept it in mind to come back.. well, I forgot about it... until today. Was thinking about what to shoot for today and suddenly remembered about it.
This silo used to be part of the state penitentiary that was closed a few years ago in a city nearby.. The penitentiary is always guarded, but this silo sits outside the property, hence was easily accessible... very tight space once you get in.. took a few shots from different POVs and called it a day before somebody noticed us.
Spotted this tulip last Spring during my morning walk. I had to find something bright in my archives to lighten the mood on this cold, snowy day.
Old and decrepit, this small hut sits in the corner of a farmers field. We passed it along the highway on our way toward a weekend destination when my wife said "we should go back so you can photograph it". I don't need to hear that invite twice so back we went and out I got.

I went back to the 2010 photography folder to find something and now I will probably be stuck there for awhile. I decided to edit this one again, using silver efex pro this time. I think this was sort of the beginning of the "corner" architecture series, two years before I really started that series. ha
