My camera saw more than I could see at the time. It was almost dusk and I was very far. So I don't know what that thing is on the upper right. It may have been a bug....:)

This is Jordan (my nephew) jumping over Danielle's head (while she is sitting, duh) I just thought it was a very cool capture. If I do say so myself ;-) I played with the colors a little, but other than that this is SOOC. I didn't do any cropping.

While I'm waiting out this cold for enough energy to go out I decided to share this fun image. This was taken while looking for the Lapland Longspur at Hayward Shoreline Park last year...I looked up and spotted this Osprey carrying a fish when I snapped it a plane was flying by. Heavily cropped, but I thought this was a pretty 'cool capture'.

Last night I met a wonderful couple, Rob & Carla Irvine, the proud owners of this beautifully restored 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville. Completed in 2004, it took 15 years to restore this Caddy to the original manufactured specs. There is a 390 CU. under the hood and the interior has all the power equipment enjoyed on the more modern luxury rides of today.

You gotta love the rear fins on this classic, see them below.....:-)))

Enough of that kitten! He shows off on flickr, models in the papers, and as if that is not enough; that greedy miaoer gets to eat first leaving only left overs for me!

LE in Skutberget before the sunset. Pretty cool capture and effect of the seagull with the LE. Looks like two ghosts :)

Roma

This was taken the other night during our sunset cocktail hour on the terrace. I didn't quite believe my eyes when this cloud formed, but thought it was worth a shot.

So I set off to west Texas last week in search of photographic gold. My targets were Dolan Falls and then, out further west (where there’s very little light pollution), photos of the Milky Way, star trails, and the Prada store outside Marfa, to name a few.

It was an inauspicious beginning. First, I was unable to locate Dolan Falls. Despite all the driving – and then 3 miles of hiking in the heat with all my gear – I could only reach the river, with no clue how to find the falls. Discouraged I set off to Alpine, TX. Then, cloudy, hazy conditions scuttled any chances of any blue hour shots, and also looked to jeopardize any stars or milky way shots. I had driven a long way not to have anything to photograph. There were some passing thunderstorms in the area and my cousin suggested trying to shoot them over the town or maybe head off to the McDonald Observatory outside nearby Ft. Davis. I hadn’t even thought of that. As night fell and I couldn’t get anything worthwhile nearby, I noticed the storms seemed to be moving out. Even though it was still almost completely cloudy, I figured I might get lucky and get some clearing if I drove the hour or so northwest into the Davis Mountains. Sure enough, as I arrived at the observatory half the sky had opened up. It was amazing how many stars and satellites you could see! I spent the next hour and a half setting up and taking the images for a star trails shot [in comments below].

Up on top of the hill it was about 60 degrees and pretty windy and I had dressed for the heat. I got cold after awhile so I went back to my car while waiting for the sequence of images to shoot. Eventually I saw flashes of light and thought the caretakers were upon me with flashlights ready to escort me off the premises. Instead, it turned out to be lightning – the storms which had been off on the horizon moving away, had started to come back! Seeing the opportunity to photograph lightning – something that’s been on my list for years – I quickly terminated the star trails shots and turned my camera 180 degress to face the approaching storms. I only needed a couple attempts to get this shot. And while I did get a couple other decent photos on my journey (short of expectations), I felt fortunate to have had this unexpected opportunity present itself.

I rarely ask, but please check this out large in lightbox!

Cool capture of this cliff face. It was a great day to be at the quarries. Can you see the two aussie blokes in the water.

I just thought this was a cool capture...:)

As the ice starts melting, the heat starts taking back its Summer beaches. Although it still has a long way to go considering all the sand is like tundra. I was strolling along Fullerton beach looking for interesting angles with the skyline in the back, and wanted to keep the morning glow with the beautiful clouds in the background. I found some interesting ice banks, but couldn't quite get that compositional feeling when you're like "OH YEAH!!!". Unsatisfied, I continued walking and found this. At first it looked surreal, these weird mushroom like structures jutting out of the lake. I searched for a good angle to frame the photo and felt this was the best, even though I wish I could have gotten closer but the ice was super slippery and one wrong move and there goes loads of money down the icy toilet. I really liked this photo most because it emphasizes the weather torn wooden gate that is gnarled up, and also shows the unrelenting waves crashing into it and spilling through, and to the side of the gate. And my favorite part is the sunlight wrapping around each piece of ice. A very cool capture for a fun and surreal winter scene of Chicago.

Amazing statistic of the New York City is that in Manhattan alone there are an estimated 280,000 dogs residing on the island and double that quantity in the outer boros of Queens and Brooklyn. Being smitten by dog love myself the proud owner of the two sweet mixed breed pooches, I often find my ‘street’ photography is of lovable canines. In the largely concrete jungle that is Manhattan, it’s amazing to see dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds being walked. In the few green spaces on the island, many include dog parks within their confines. I seen dogs in the dogs as early as 5 AM (I walk my guys that early if I have to go into the office early or drive my youngest daughter to the train station) and in Washington Square Park after mid-night. Manhattan in particular poses challenges because a larger portion of the population relies primarily on public transportation, unlike us NY suburbanites in northern Jersey, north New York counties (Rockland and Orange) and Long Island, many don’t own motor vehicles. Owning a canine is a wonderful rewarding experience, but also is a large responsibility that requires forethought . My kids and I having moved in the last year, number 1 on the list is, places that will accept pets, then the question is how big. Well Manhattan those queries resonate even more, even if you find a dog friendly building, the bathroom situation, how do you walk the dog? Full time job? Going to be difficult. That’s why budgeted into the care and upkeep of a pooch dog walkers are a must. Added cost is also a factor, the vets, the groomers, tend to charge a bit more. That why it’s important when considering a dog, that a lot of consideration is taken with all the factors that play into having a loyal four legged companion. This consideration and calculation does not happen some times and the city sponsored and private animal shelters in New York City are full of dogs who at first seemed like a good idea, but then reality set in and became sadly expendable. Dogs are loyal, full of love and always happy to see you, I’ve had my two for 8 and 7 years and adore them. They require attention and time, they are living creatures and if they don’t get a decent amount of attention, they will act up.

I love capturing dogs living and interacting in the city. This dog was a bit tired and was on the lap of his female caretaker happy as could be in Washington Square Park people watching; totally cool.
