So yesterday, found out that the tide at Astoria was low at around 11, and it was a clear night, so we scooted over to try to shoot some stars..

Die Lockheed Super Constellation der Lufthansa am Flughafen München.
The Lockheed Super Constellation at Munich Airport.
Greetings!
It was just another night
With a sunset
And a moonrise not so far behind
To give us just enough light
To lay down underneath the stars
Listen to papas translations
Of the stories across the sky
We drew our own constellations
The west winds often last too long
The wind may calm down
Nothing ever feels the same
Sheltered under the Kamani tree
Waiting for the passing rain
Clouds keep moving to uncover the scene
Stars above us chasing the day away
To find the stories that we sometimes need
Listen close enough
All else fades
Fades away

I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars

One of our April workshop students brought a laser pointer with an interesting lens that scatters the beam into hundreds of points of light. Amusement ensued, all over this 1965 Mercury Montclair.
Night, 4 minute exposure. Full moon, sodium vapor light, red-gelled flashlight and laser.
You just GOTTA see this HUGE!

I was walking down a path on a hill when suddenly the horses raced towards me along with a herd of cows trailing behind. Startled, I ran to the top of the hill and past the cattle guard. The horses stopped just inches from the cattle guard, which kept my heart racing because I'm afraid of horses. I love photographing horses, but I had a few bad experiences riding horses and being bitten when I was younger, so I am always anxious around them.

"A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for".
Grace Murray Hopper
The USS Constellation was built in 1854 and is the last remaining ship of the Civil War. Baltimore Harbor is now its home. This is a three image panorama of the ship as it sits in front of the World Trade Center building. This is not an HDR but I did use a circular polarizing filter.
