In Japan Roller Coasters are called "Jet Coasters". No idea why, but seems apt with the movement.
5xp handheld HDR shot taken later in the day (from the previous two shots) at a Motorway theme park in Suzuka, Japan (about an hour South of Nagoya). Left the ghosting on this one, as it works...
Suzuka, Japan.
I liked the combination of stillness and motion in this Roller Coaster scene as it sped past me. Even at the speed they were traveling you can make out individual strands of hair on the front rider. The back lighting added interest to this image for me. Hope you like it. Thanks for viewing.

A stroll down to Clarence Pier at Southsea on a breezy October afternoon (and some dabbling in Photoshop) resulted in this.
Those familier with Clarence Pier will know only too well that this coaster is anything but cutting edge or thrilling. This shot makes this ride look way more dramatic than it really is.

A new thing for me, coasters! I made them out of felted wool from coats and sweaters, backed them with extra wool, and given them a little hanging loop. A set of bright fall leaves...ahhhh....fall....
Clockwise:

A half mile ago, my GPS told me to turn right at the next street but when I got there this was my view. I pulled over at the intersection instead, grabbed my camera and got in the middle of the road to capture this scene.
I am not suggesting anyone do this, but, I'm thinkin' if you drove at a high rate of speed, it just might feel like a roller coaster. Weeeeeeeeee!!
Have a wonderful week everyone :-)

The COASTER commuter train provides breathtaking coastal scenery as it runs north and south through San Diego County, serving eight stations between Oceanside and downtown San Diego.
Who can forget the exhilarating feeling of a roller coaster ride. The rush, the momentary felling of total insanity. The feeling of never doing this again and then........doing it again. This papercut reminds me of my first ride---Roller Coster Hell.
Its been a while since I made any striped hand dyed coasters, but I had quite a bit of leftover striped fabric form the quilt I finished last week.
With the California sun getting low on the Pacific, an evening Coaster heads north by the bluffs at Del Mar.

Circle coasters in a slightly different way. This time I bound the edges instead of turning them in. I have a new found appreciation for fabric cut on the crosswise grain.
It's been of a rollercoaster ride the past week. First there was the road trip back east where we got to see family as well as the lovely and talented duo of Ali and Bob. In the midst of this, I got an email from Rick "Beerzie Boy" Alfaro, crack editor of File Magazine, who spotted one of my photos on the photostream of a Flickrite who claimed it (as well as a number of others from File Magazine contributors) as his/her own. After whipping off a complaint to the Yahoo copyright people, the infringer has been smacked down and taken off Flickr. Big thanks to the folks at Flickr for taking this scumbag down and especially to Rick for telling me about it. I owe you a nice cold one, buddy!
Captured in Gurnee, Illinois. Hasselblad 2000 FC/M + homemade lens. June 2007.
Roller Coaster at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The winds were pretty high, pushing these pillowy clouds past the nearly full moon.
