The Cliffs of Moher are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland.

They rise 120 metres (390 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 metres (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower.

"Friends may be gone in the morning fair,

But the cliffs by the ocean are always there;

Lovers may leave when the wind is chill,

But the cliffs by the ocean are steadfast still.

They watch the sea and they ward the land,

And they warn the ships from the treacherous sand;

And I sadly think in the twilight hour

What I might have been had I known my power."

In order to get to the Cottonwood Cove without 4-wheel-drive vehicle, me and my friend hiked through the wilderness from Paw Hole area. It was a great experience.

Just wanted to say "thank you" for looking at my photo's and taking the time to comment. I do appreciate your visits! Time for me to take a little break from flickr, but I'll drop in from time to time to see your photo's. Enjoy the autumn leaves!

Here we are north of the visitor center on the Cliffs of Moher and the wind is blowing a gale, fierce gusts off the Atlantic making the experience frightening but thrilling. That fence you see is electric to keep the sheep from going over the edge. You may ask how I know that, well I found out the hard way.... YIKES that was a shock.

Happy fence Friday. :-)

Bempton Cliffs are home to the only mainland breeding colony of gannets in England. The birds arrive at the colony from January and leave in August and September.

Island in the Sky, Canyonlands National Park, Utah

A section of the cliff at the edge of the Island in the Sky mesa. We are looking east towards the La Sal mountains while the early evening light warms the red sandstone cliffs, both near and far. Below us, in the Monument Basin, is a side canyon of the Colorado River with its edging of White Rim sandstone. The jeep trail across the lower right corner is the White Rim Trail.

The skies were wonderful last weekend down at Cot Valley. The gorse on the cliffs was out in full, and it did look beautiful. A bit different to today's drizzle and grey skies! Have a lovely weekend everyone.

All scenes from beautiful Mothecombe in Devon today. This is our closest beach to home!

The Cliffs of Moher at dawn just past 6:00 a.m. in the morning in Ireland.

The Cliffs of Moher (Irish: Aillte an Mhothair) are located at the southwestern edge of the Burren region in County Clare, Ireland. They rise 120 metres (390 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hag's Head, and reach their maximum height of 214 metres (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometres to the north. The cliffs receive almost one million visitors a year.

O'Brien's Tower is a round stone tower near the midpoint of the Cliffs of Moher built in 1835 by Sir Cornelius O'Brien to impress female visitors. From the cliffs and from atop the watchtower, visitors can see the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, the Maumturks and Twelve Pins mountain ranges to the north in County Galway, and Loop Head to the south.

Eshaness can boast one of the highest energy coastlines in the world. Blasted by the full force of the North Atlantic it displays a stunning array of stacks, blowholes and geos (narrow inlets). However, the Eshaness peninsula also tells a fascinating story of a long extinct volcano and a very different past environment.

During the Devonian period, 350 - 400 million years ago Shetland lay near the Equator at the heart of large supercontinent and experienced a tropical climate, which varied from wet and humid to dry and arid. The Eshaness volcano lay at the north end of a broad valley containing a massive freshwater lake called Lake Orcadie.

The spectacular cliffs you see today cut right through the flank of what was the Eshaness volcano. It has been described as 'the best section through the flank of a volcano in the British Isles'

Uluwatu, Bali, Indonesia

Uluwatu lies at the southern tip of Bali. Being a popular surfing spot for the very experienced, Uluwatu offers a wonderful vantage point to view a spectacular sunset. Warungs or small restaurants perched on the cliff offer a comfortable spot to survey the vast Indian Ocean beyond and below the 300-foot-high cliffs with panorama on three sides. Monkeys inhabit the temple and cliff face hoping for a banana or some peanuts from the visitors.
