Another shot from around the Cleveland Point area. As this jetty points towards a general westerly direction it is a very popular sunset location, as it gives the chance of a setting sun across water. This was taken not long after sunrise under very stormy skies. It is a challenge to photograph and get both the jetty and the horizon straight. In this shot with the horizon fairly level it makes the jetty look like it is sitting at a strange angle. The usual shot is taken from directly behind it, as I did in an earlier upload.
Another shot from the Cleveland Jetty at Sunset. With Russ Stewart, and met Garry from flickr.
This was using 5 stops of ND grad, as well as an ND6 filter, so a bit of an orange colour cast came from all the stacking.
Ive been to this point many times, but never actually shot this, so was something new at least.
6x12 Pano crop.

Sunset looked promising with a few clouds around, sadly all the clouds disappeared. But Rusty showed up and we took a few snaps at Cleveland.
Met Garry from flickr as well - great to meet you!
Last shot of the night, 1 minute exposure, f11, 17mm.

This is a view from East 9th street in downtown Cleveland. In the background is the steam ship Mather; which is now an exhibit associated with the Cleveland Science Center. Just to the left off camera is the backside of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
I have been sidelined with an injury so you won't see anything new from me for a little while. Hopefully I will be back very soon but for now here is one I took last month.

The Cleveland Clinic Las Vegas. A great example of modern architecture. I’ve taken shots here before, but this is the first time I’ve seen it at night. Petty about that street lamp right in the middle.
I decided to take a Friday afternoon and explore the area.
Thanks to flickr photographer Brad Hartig- for some
Cleveland inspiration.
Sunrise over Lake Erie with the Cleveland skyline in the distance.
Huntington Beach - Bay Village, Ohio.
A blue hour view of the Cleveland skyline with one of the many lift bridges that cross the Cuyahoga river in it's raised position.
I absolutely love to adventure and discover new places. This summer I visited the Cleveland Dam in North Vancouver for the first time. The rocky cliff side edge and incredible heights were breath taking.
The setting sun illuminates the Russian orthodox church on Cleveland's near west side while steam rises from the steel mill in the valley below
The Arcade in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, is a Victorian-era structure of two nine-story buildings, joined by a five-story arcade with a glass skylight spanning over 300 feet (91 m), along the four balconies. Erected in 1890, at a cost of $867,000, the Arcade opened on Memorial Day (May 31, 1890), and is identified as one of the earliest indoor shopping malls in the United States. The Arcade was modified in 1939, remodeling the Euclid Avenue entrance and adding some structural support.(From Wikipedia)
Blue hour panorama of the Cleveland skyline. This is a 9 shot picture and will print very large at high resolutions. Contact me for prints or for publication.
Part of the redevelopment of Cleveland Point. Is it any wonder that this is a popular spot.. yes I know that there is no one in this shot but it was the coldest morning of the year so far. 1 degree... and it WAS before the sun came up :)
There is a seafood restaurant around to the right of this shot that also sells fish and chips, so you can sit here in this park and enjoy a beautiful sea breeze on a hot balmy night or on a gorgeous winter's day. The famous lighthouse is behind where I stood to take this shot.
I have also written a guide to photographing this very popular part of the world. Please feel free to take a look and comment :)

On a rainy spring day 2011, on the shore of Lake Erie, the distinct triangular shape of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, opening to the public in September of 1995 12 years in the making. This beautiful museum is the work of world-renowned architect I.M. Pei and ground was broken for the structure in June of 1993. The first induction of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was held in New York back in 1986. There were thoughts of keeping the Hall of Fame in New York. In addition to New York and Cleveland, Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Memphis and Chicago all made proposals to be the host city for the museum. Cleveland was awarded the site of the permanent home for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. I remember local New York DJ’s like Don Imus (who's radio program still hadn’t become so politically oriented at that time) making New York City’s case as the correct location to no avail back then in 1986. The artifacts are remarkable and extensive and honestly I’ve been there twice and want to return to see what I didn’t get to see. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame welcomed over 8 million visitor since its opening.
Pictured is bus 612 of the Cleveland Municipal School District which was a 2000 International with a Carpenter body. This was part of a large batch of buses purchased by the district in 2000 and was brand new when this picture was taken. These were all 59 passenger (10 row) buses and the largest majority of this batch were retired just prior to the 2014-15 school year. Photo by Gavin Berwald.
