Time for a revisit back to a familiar place. But this time, I am going back to Chinatown at night, instead of day. It so happens that the Chinese New Year is around the corner, so that meant that there were huge crowds that were great for street photography. A very Happy Lunar New Year in advance!

The 700 block of H Street, N.W., in Chinatown. Built in the late 19th-century for residential purposes, the commercial buildings are designated as contributing properties to the Downtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.Chinatown in Washington, D.C., is a small, historic neighborhood east of downtown consisting of about 20 ethnic Chinese and other Asian restaurants and small businesses along H and I Streets between 5th and 8th Streets, Northwest. It is known for its annual Chinese New Year festival and parade and the Friendship Arch, a Chinese gate built over H Street at 7th Street. Other nearby prominent landmarks include the Verizon Center, a sports and entertainment arena, and the Old Patent Office Building, which houses two of the Smithsonian Museums. The neighborhood is served by the Gallery Place-Chinatown station of the Washington Metro.
I shot this hand-held while crossing the street after dinner at a restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown district. The sauteed oyster with ginger and green onions was a winner :-) .

This was shot last year (November 2006); I meant to put it online but never got round to it.

Singapore's Chinatown is an ethnic neighbourhood featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements and a historically concentrated ethnic Chinese population. Chinatown is located within the larger district of Outram.
As the largest ethnic group in Singapore is Chinese, Chinatown is considerably less of an enclave than it once was. (Note: The name Chinatown (唐人街) is usually used by non-Chinese Singaporeans whereas Chinese Singaporeans usually use the term Niu Che Shui (牛车水) as the term Chinatown (唐人街) usually refers to enclaves of Chinese people in regions where Chinese people are the minority ethnic group.) However, the district does retain significant historical and cultural significance. Large sections of it have been declared national heritage sites officially designated for conservation by the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
