Yet another, even closer look at the chimney in my neighbourhood. I don't think I can make it any closer now!

Smoke is an issue. I don't recommend them for residential environment without raising the chimney. ... With the proper chimney height it shouldn't be an issue.
Dear friends,
Of course a manipulation here as Georges Pompidou's center chimney can't belch smoke... ;-)
Happy week-end! ;-)

Towering above the streets of Carlisle is Dixons Chimney. Built by the Dixon family in 1836 it was the tallest in the world at the time.

Have a wonderful afternoon and nice evening :))**
Chimney Rock has been #1 on my list since I moved back to the area. As a kid, I had many trips out to Point Reyes and have always wanted to spend time capturing some of the unique scenes in the park. The radar looked somewhat promising when I checked earlier in the day, and as I approached on the long drive out I could see a gap. Always underestimating the time it takes to get out here, I arrived with little time to spare and ran on the trail from my car to find a vantage point, multitasking some exercise in.
This was truly one of the most surreal sunsets I have witnessed. It didn't completely explode with nuclear color, but there was zero wind and the wave action below was crazy...an odd juxtaposition of the elements. If you look in the bottom right, on the beach, you can see the Elephant seals in big numbers. They were going absolutely crazy down there, making it that much more interesting. It was me and one another couple off in the distance taking it in, and I really felt energized after leaving this epic view. I did feel bad though, for the photographer that arrived just as the second stage of afterglow faded away! This was one of my favorite comps from the evening, but I am working on a pano that captures more of the scene. There is no doubt that I will be back here in the coming months when the sun sets further north! Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!!!!
Here is a 5 image pano from an awesome evening I had at Chimney Rock a few months ago. The light wasn't explosive, but I was happy to have some color along with minimal wind and no fog;-) Love the view here with the wild Pacific on one side and calm Drakes Bay on the other!
There are several sites around the country called Chimney Rock but this is the key one and one of the markers along the Oregon trail which the settlers moving west followed.
Yes, another one from last month! I have already uploaded the photos from my vacations but still need to work on them!
This imposing, twisted chimney stands 8 metres at the north of the Rhymney Valley, for all travelling on A465 to see. It was designed by New York based artist Brian Tolle and unveiled in 2010. It is located near the former Union Ironworks and on land that was once a railway line, and was created with input from the residents of Bute Town.
The fog is lifting to reveal a view of Chimney Rock several hundred feet below. I love the waves rolling in from the west softened by a bit of mist.
I'm not quite as close to the edge as it looks, just a great angle for framing!

Chimney Rock has become one of the most famous landmarks in the American West. This unique formation - the most noted on the Oregon Trail - has come to symbolize the greatest voluntary migration in the history of mankind. It is featured on the Nebraska quarter.

This chimney was originally for a mine shaft and has been retained as landmark long after the mine closed. Cape Cornwall was bought for the nation by the Heinz company.
Taken a little while ago at Biddulph Grange, Staffordshire, I loved how these chimney pots seemed to be reaching for the sky!
I cannot see pigeons on a chimney without thinking of my friend Chris.
