On Tour to North Cape - day 06 - Finally there III
To be found at the North Cape by the tourist Center: The "Children of the world" sculpture created by Seven children from Thailand to Tanzania.
Here photographed at a visit a grey day in January.
It was strange being almost alone around this great sculpture partly covered in snow in a very low light environment - still with a fading sun in the clouded sky.
And I think this photo version of the sculpture on this day for me was a small highlight as I walked around in solitude at North Cape - outside and inside the big North Cape center.
(BTW the blue in the snow is due to the Arctic low light winter season not any idea, wish or PP from my side :-))
From the net:
The “Children of the World” sculpture was started in 1988 when author Simon Flem Devold randomly selected seven children from seven countries – Tanzania, Brazil, USA, Japan, Thailand, Italy and Russia — to visit the North Cape to dream of “Peace on Earth”.
During their seven day visit, each of the 8-to12-year-old children made a clay relief symbolizing friendship, hope, joy and working together. In 1989 the reliefs were enlarged, case in bronze and erected in a semi-circle outside the North Cape Hall. A “Mother and Child “monument by sculptor Eva Rybakken points toward the seven disks.
Istanbul: little girl feeding her grandmother
When this little turkish girl jokingly fed her grandmother in an Istanbul café she was very well aware of being photographed. In fact we had fooled around before with me taking shots and then show her on the monitor. She loved the game and started to laugh and pose. I don't speak Turkish - she was the director as well as the model.
This photo was shown at the Istanbul Photo Contest Exhibition at Taksim Metro Station September, 2012 :))

An Ernesto 'Che' Guevara portrait in front of a house in the Old Havana.
Born to a middle class family and trained as a medical doctor, the young Argentinean travelled and witnessed the plight of the South American people, and had envisioned a fair and justice society. He joined the rebel groups in Cuba and fought along side with Fidel Castro and other revolutionists. After the revolution, he held positions in important ministries and the Central Bank, in charge of the industry and economic reform. Despite his passion, however, the result was largely a failure due to the lack of experience. Withdrawing from public office, he returned to Africa and South America for guerilla warfare, but was subsequently captured and executed by the CIA in Bolivia in 1967. Coupled with his personal charisma, Che Guevara has become an icon who dare to confront injustice and oppressions, no matter how powerful they are, without considering personal safety and profit. Although Che might never have envisioned the social condition of Cuba today under his comrade Castro, although the end result undoubtedly adds an element of tragedy to his sacrifice and devotion, it is his passion that inspires generations of young Marxists and left-wingers. Like Che once said: "Revolutions rarely, if ever, emerge fully ripe, and not all their details are scientifically foreseen. They are products of passion, of improvisation by human beings in their struggle for social change, and are never perfect. Our revolution was no exception".
India, Ladakh, Himalaya (1978)
She will have children of her own by now.
(was on Explore Sept. 29, 2008, No 273)
From all my analog photos this is the one dearest to me. And it has its little story, too. We were amongst the first foreigners ever to visit Ladakh after India's independece. I would go out and play with the children in the fields and take photos. She was the youngest one and very shy. Covered her face with her dirty hands every time i tried. Then finally i surprised her in one inattentive moment. This is not that shot but the one after. When she started to laugh about having finally lost our game.

Now here is something I haven't had to do for a very long time... Discord Designs has a hair out for an event - Namely the Children Of The World project, raising money for War Child. This is Bantu - a set of Bantu Knots (you don't say!) supplied on a wholly new hairbase, made just for this style. The roots and base are black, but the knots themselves are available in a variety of colours.
The location is in one corner of the event sim ( maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Oasis%20of%20Dreams/113/19... ) It's opening in six hours so what can possibly go wrong with me showing you a sand dune in advance?
*coughs*
Anyway... 2 colour packs, a 5 colour exclusives pack, and the 15 colour bulk pack are available in my usual shades, plus some bright ends for a change.
Do come by, have a look and see what you think. There's a lot here, let me tell you. The event runs until the 26th of March.

We went to check out the Children of the World event last night. She tried to sell me some fish that I'm PRETTY SURE were caught around the time King Tut ruled Egypt. Pretty sure.

Seeing the world through the eyes of a child
Trying something different, we celebrated the birthday of my 2nd son and his friends came over to celebrate, while taking the photos , I couldn’t resist taking a close up of this child. Her eyes caught my attention, such power , such innocence, thought may be I should give the shot a different prospective about how a child sees the world though her innocent eyes….
Enjoy the moment !!!!
