On Children

Kahlil Gibran

"Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you..."

"Mother is the name of a god on the mouths of all children" - Eric Draven, The Crow

This was the last photo taken during Savannah's fun playground photoshoot. She worked the camera till the very end, didn't she? :)

I love the airy feel in this one.

Quick shot before I'm off to join my family!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my wonderful and beautiful Flickr friends!

The latest edition to my niece's family.

This is a complete stranger my daughter befriended at the park. I was watching them play from a distance when I was fortunate enough to capture this spontaneous moment of kindness. There is a lesson for all of us here.

“Know you what it is to be a child? It is to be something very different from the man of to-day. It is to have a spirit yet streaming from the waters of baptism; it is to believe in love, to believe in loveliness, to believe in belief; it is to be so little that the elves can reach to whisper in your ear; it is to turn pumpkins into coaches, and mice into horses, lowness into loftiness, and nothing into everything, for each child has its fairy godmother in its own soul.”

- Francis Thompson

English poet and writer (1859-1907)

Oh, why you look so sad?

Tears are in your eyes

Come on and come to me now

Don't be ashamed to cry

Let me see you through

cause I've seen the dark side too

When the night falls on you

You don't know what to do

Nothing you confess

Could make me love you less

I'll stand by you

I'll stand by you

Won't let nobody hurt you

I'll stand by you

Take me in, into your darkest hour

And I'll never desert you

I'll stand by you

-- I'll Stand By You, Carrie Underwood

direi che racchiude un po' quello che i genitori devono saper fare per rendere indipendenti i figli...

guardarli mentre progettano di allontanarsi.

I don't do many portrait shots, but I like how this one turned out. It's great to sit back on a bench while the kids play at the splash pad. It was a very sunny day, but for a moment the sun went behind a cloud to give me more softness on the face. I didn't do much to this. I liked it the way it was.

It's Friday again : ))
