A view of the U.S. Capitol Building from the southeast, and a COLD ONE at that.

Twas a cold and windy night…

A look at the beautiful dome in the recently renovated Minnesota State Capitol.

Capitol Building from across the first reflecting pool on a 70 degree day in mid February.

I hate taking the same picture twice.. except here. It's great every time. :)

Completed in 1888, the sunset red granite Texas State Capitol Building is the largest state house in the United States. Only the U.S. Capitol surpasses the Texas Capitol Building is square footage. The Texas State Capitol Building stand 15 feet taller than the national capitol in Washington D. C. Renaissance Revival architecture creates exquisite visual lines inside and outside the Capitol Building. The awe-inspiring Rotunda and Capitol Dome interior captures the attention of visitors. Gazing into the dome's interior, with lone star and the Texas set at the center, one feels the protective 'eye' of Texas watching over the Lone Star State's business in Austin.

Here we see the United States Capitol Building on a somewhat cloudy spring evening.

Submitted for Flickr Friday theme of Synecdoche where the state capitol dome represents Government.

No tripod, unfortunately... this was as good as I could get it.

The oculus of the Idaho state capitol is about 11 feet in diameter, and displays a canvas of sky-blue background sprinkled with gold stars. The stars on the canvas symbolizes Idaho's acceptance as the 43rd state in the Union. (Source: capitolcommission.idaho.gov/pdf/about/idaho_capitol_histo...)

State Capitol Building, taken with my iPhone camera, adjusted for perspective and local contrast in Photoshop Elements.

I got lost after taking this photo. We had a group dinner at a restaurant nearby, and were headed to a concert across Capitol Park afterwards. I decided to walk to help settle dinner. I was told to turn left on L St. and go three blocks to the concert hall. I got distracted along the way by this scene, took a detour to get the photo, and then turned left when I hit L St. at 10th. I was all the way down to 4th before I realized there was no concert hall down there. The concert hall was at 13th and L, right adjacent to the east facade of the Capitol. The things we do for art!
