I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns.

Something a little different. A buff-bellied hummingbird perched amid a nearly impenetrable canvas of newly budding brambles. As is often the case, Teri pointed him out to me long before I saw him, and it took me a depressingly long time to realize that he was there, motionless, exactly where I was looking, the whole time. Where's Waldo, right? This is one of the very first shots I took during our trip south.

The selective-color editing (no, that's not snow) was partially inspired by the monochrome work of Sippanont (27147), who has taught me, among other things, that black and white photos can be teeming with imaginary colors.

The courage to imagine the otherwise is our greatest resource, adding color and suspense to all our life.

THE CHINESE FISHING NET ( CHEENA VALA) ARE USED IN COCHIN , (KERALA STATE, INDIA) .

THESE ARE SHORE OPERATED LIFT NETS. THEY ARE HELD HORIZONDALLY BY A LARGE FIXED STRUCTURE WITH NET ON ONE END AND WEIGHTS ( HUGE ROCKS ) ON THE OTHER END.THE HEAD (NET) IS LOWERED INTO THE WATER. HUGE MECHANICAL CONTRIVANCES HOLD OUT HORIZONDAL NETS WITH DIAMETERS OF 20 METRES OR MORE.

AT NIGHT WHEN THE NETS ARE DIPPED A HANGING LANTERN IS LIT AT THE FOCAL POINT OF THE NET JUST ABOVE THE WATER SURFACE. THE LIGHT FORM ATTRACTS THE FISHES INTO THE MOUTH OF THE NET IN HUGE QUANTITIES !

THESE NETS ARE DIPPED INTO THE WATER AND RAISED AGAIN, BUT OTHERWISE CANNOT BE MOVED.

My 1st upload after getting a Pro Account ! THANK YOU FLICKR ! .. THIS IS THE BEST HAPPENING FOR ME ON THE WEB !

Another taken at the entrance to the Wabash Trace in the morning sun. It's funny that these trees lose every single leaf without losing a single crabapple. Makes them look rather...naked. Council Bluffs, Iowa.
