“Science, already oppressive with its shocking revelations, will perhaps be the ultimate exterminator of our human species - if separate species we be - for its reserve of unguessed horrors could never be borne by mortal brains if loossed upon the world.”

― H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories

The custom figure possibilities with this TFA pilot body are endless!

Lori and I had shared a few small plates at a beachside restaurant last evening. For some reason I get to take all of the calamari pieces with tentacles. Whatever. ;-)

(118/365) busy day so a quick iPhone snap this evening for the group. Rio our Quaker Parrot has his plucking moments sadly, it started after he was half strangled in a rope toy about 18 months ago poor bird. Protein in his diet helps feather growth & I reckon he's the only parrot in Ireland eating battered Calamari tonight! He has his main seed diet obviously but then he shares a little of what we eat (well helps himself off the plate lol) he loves peas, porridge, scrambled egg, noodles & baked beans! He's always "left footed" never holds food with his right foot.

We just about get him right then something sets the plucking off again, even a viewing on house with strangers in the room. What can you do we need to sell? If we cover him during the viewing or move him into the utility room temporarily he gets stressed. When we finally move to a new house the plan is to build a large outdoor aviary with an insulated indoor part & buy another Quaker parrot for company for him so he's not reliant on us for entertainment.

He's almost back to normal here after an episode of plucking 2 weeks ago. It makes me so sad & I feel helpless that he's not happy. I sometimes wish we'd never bought him but he flies free around the room during the day, loves his cage, chats away to us & we are at home all day so we do our best to keep him occupied (newest play thing cost £20 off Ebay!) Someone else might have left him in a cage all day with no interaction which would be dreadful.

I've built this small section of a Mon Calamari cruiser hangar to go along with my MC bridge and to display some spacecraft and minifigs.

I plan to add further modular sections of the hangar in the future.

A little bit of abstract reality, just for fun. Remided me of a squid...or a rocket.

Press L - but maybe no further.

I got a couple of sharper shots in this sequence but nothing with quite the same pose of the bird. This just looks right and just goes to show that sometimes there's more to look at that sharpness - a hard one for me as I'm always so worrying about detail.

Think this one as a small quid or cuttlefish but could be wrong.

Sepioteuthis australis,

Blairgowrie Marina, night dive.

The tale begins with Hook Hand Harry,

Who had a taste for calamari,

He rustled up a motley crew,

Two other pirates; Hugh and Pugh,

And in a little punt this bunch,

Set out to hunt a little lunch.

Alas, despite their preparation,

And much to Harry's consternation,

The hunting trip went quite awry,

Their boat was hoisted to the sky,

They fell into the ocean water,

And ended up as octo-fodder.

Calamari fritte tossed in spicy kochujang vinaigrette over Kula greens in a crispy won ton basket.

Not bad, just the right balance of sweet/sour/spicy but the calamari was a bit too chewy.

papas arrugadas - are small potatoes which have been boiled in salt water and are usually served with the main course and topped with mojo. their name in spanish means "wrinkled potatoes" and refers to their condition after being boiled and served.

mojo - (pronounced mO-ho) is a sauce which may be orange, red, or green depending on its ingredients. mojo is heavy in garlic and can be moderately spicy, referred to as mojo picón. it is usually made of oil, vinegar, salt, red pepper, thyme, oregano, coriander and several other spices. i love it!

Sorry, had to post another one of this cute little fella...the last one, I promise! Not as crisp as the first shot, but I like the perspective.

Today I played with the sunlight and that seemed to really make the smoke

nice and clear. I look forward to seeing all of your experiments too :)
