These delightful 'button mums' are very perky and bright. Usually only 1 - 1.5" across, they provide a warm glow during the autumn time period.
This store, located at the Herengracht in Amsterdam, specializes in selling buttons and related accessories.
Too bad they did not use buttons instead of a padlock to secure the shop ;-)

These are buttons from the button drawer. When we were little, we were allowed, as a special treat, to play with the buttons in there. My props for the photo are the tiled floor, very old and beautiful colours. And my sister, who held the string still.

Am I the only one who can never find quite the right button I'm looking for?
I believe that this is a Northern Crescent. Based only on my own lack of sightings, I believe that this species is not common to my area.
Note...this photo was made nearly six years ago...on then new -- but now quite outmoded -- equipment. It seems to have held up well, and this is the first viewing of this image.
Nikon D300. Nikkor 60mm micro + 2x TC. 1/80th @ f/11. ISO 800. EV = 0.0. Hand held.
What can I say, it's darn cold out and not all of us live in California!
I went through several possible subjects before finding this button, tied on with a bow, just before I lost the morning sun through our East facing living room window.
Happy Macro Monday everyone!
The Bachelor Button / Cornflower is a wonderful small blossom, with lots of lines, angles and textures.
I looked back in my flower sets ...er...'albums' to make sure I wasn't uploading a photo similar to any other recent one of mine. Surprised to find out that though I photograph these all of the time, I hadn't shown one since January of 2012...taken in mid-2011. About time for another, perhaps. (This one taken very recently.)
Nikon D4s. Tamron 180mm Macro. 1/5000th @ f/16. ISO 5000. EV = - 2/3
I came across a tutorial on making a flower button by Karen Smith,
Karen uses beads for the flower but I did a French Knot .
I'll do some with a bead another time.
I don't know what I'll do with them yet but it was an enjoyable couple of hours stitching!
Several happened to be "Inchies"

Button got so tired out today that she fell asleep this afternoon on the puki girls bed.

I bought a dozen cute tiny angel buttons a few years ago to hang on one of our miniature Christmas trees.

Hubby came up with the idea for this one. Taken outside just after the sun went and hid behind the clouds until it was too late to give any warmth to the day or capture
