once again the junta in Burma sentenced Aung San Suu Kyi to 18 months of house arrest. She's already spent 14 years out of the last 20 locked up in her house with no contact to the outside world.

no matter how dark things seem, there is always a little light. May it shine bright real soon...

One of several mystical and magical sunrises in Bagan. For me it was one of the most impressive places I have ever been so far. You could easily sit there all day long , enjoying the view that changes every minute and leaves you in awe for certain.

Burma, officially the Union of Myanmar, is the largest country by geographical area in mainland Southeast Asia, or Indochina. The country is bordered by the People's Republic of China on the northeast, Laos on the east, Thailand on the southeast, Bangladesh on the west, India on the northwest, and the Bay of Bengal to the southwest with the Gulf of Martaban and Andaman Sea defining its southern periphery. One-third of Burma's total perimeter, 1,930 kilometers (1,199 mi), forms an uninterrupted coastline.

This snapshot was taken in a monastery near Nyaungshwe at the Inlay Lake / Shan State. Those two monks were reflecting on their homework, later on I watched them with some other monks during class. The monastery is called Shwe Yan Pyay and is about a 30 min walk away from Nyaungshwe.

The Shwedagon pagoda in Burma's capital, Yangon, is one of the biggest Pagodas in the world and at least the most important Shrine in Myanmar. It is said that the Pagoda was built 2500 years ago before the decease of the historical Buddha, Gautama Siddharta. More than 60 t of Gold on it, more than 30m high, surrounded by 60 tiny golden stupas and a 76 karat diamond on it: One of the most impressive shrines I've ever seen ! Must See in Burma.

This is a panoramic shot, I used a ND 1000 filter but some of the ghosts are still visible.

This is yet more proof that no one does clouds better than South East Asia and no one does clouds better in South East Asia than Burma. I shot this image on the first part of the 8 hour river 4 hour jeep 8 hour river 4 hour jeep 8 hour river voyage
