A variable and widespread species found all the way across SE Asia from the Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh, to Borneo and the Philippines and down to Sumatra. Compare these two plants, one labelled Bulbophyllum sumatranum and the other Bulbophyllum claptonense. Both are considered by Kew to be Bulbophyllum lobbii! Is it any wonder that they were described as different species having been found quite some distance apart. Who'd want to be a taxonomist?
