This bug left a present on my Heliotrope in exchange for a little nourishment...^+^

I found this pretty little weed on a jobsite a couple of years ago and have been treating it kindly in a little flowerbed of it's own. Called a Heliotrope, it has migrated up from Mexico to southern parts of the U.S.

Do birds watch bugs the same way people watch birds? In case you are thinking the goldfinch wants to eat the bee, they don’t eat insects, only nuts and seeds.

Thanks for your views, faves and comments! They are so much appreciated!

Especially when it's sunny.

She is going to the vets today. She's almost 3, which is pretty old for a rat. She's really very healthy though, but recently has had some trouble breathing :( I realise she might not be around for much longer, so I just wanna make her as comfortable as possible really. Hopefully the end isn't too near =D

On Explore

I and Rasik were on a wild walk when Rasik spotted this BUG, and we both were ready with our cameras, as soon as we had started there was another one, telling us - Wait me too....... ( and both were in our cameras... wait for next upload...)

I went on an insect hunt today.

Taken on our dam I wondered down to see if the water lily’s had any more life left in them & found this bug doing what bugs do.

A café becomes a performance space in this show which breaks with convention. Organic, robotic dance movements are paired with an ephemeral soundscape created from table-top instruments including a violin-fork and a flute-glass, in a duet that challenges the boundaries of private and public space.

Bug on a flower.

I bought a macro lens for my camera a few years ago and it is why I take pictures today. I was astounded by the details you capture with a macro lens that you cannot see with the naked eye. The intricacy and beauty of nature are awe-inspiring. I do take photos of non-macro subjects but macrophotography is still my favourite type of photography.

This is a jewel bug, Scutiphora pedicellata, alternatively known as a metallic shield bug or shield-backed bug on a leaf of bower vine, Pandorea jasminoides.

Jewel bugs are true bugs and not beetles. The last section of their thorax is enlarged into a continuous shield over the abdomen and wings, hence one of their common names shield-backed bug.

They feed on the juices of a variety of plants including some commercial crops. They are closely related to stink bugs, and can also produce an offensive odour when disturbed.

The adults develop usually through five stages (instars) of nymphs, moulting between each stage. Nymphs resemble the adults except for size and the absence of wings. In this species, the nymphs are a different colour to the adults. This appears to be an adult from its colouration and wings are visible. I have taken a photo of an earlier stage nymph which you can see here. For more information see here.

Thanks for visiting. I am very grateful for the very kind comments and faves.

Have a great week!

This nice bug was found by my cousin. I captured this image in the Great Nemunas Loops regional park near the Nemunas river. The bug seemed very interesting for me because of black spot on its body, it looks like a money-box. ;)

Please have a view of full size... Thanks :)

There's a cluster of unhatched eggs below the bug, and another hatched lot to the left of the picture.

In this series of 4 photos, the theme is "caught". One day in my garden I was taking macro shots of flowers when to my surprise an Assassin Bug struck and attacked a Lady bug right before my startled eyes. The Lady bug was attacked, despatched, scooped up and consumed in short order. She was flipped over on her back and her body was sucked out in no time.

Getting in close enough to take good macro shots was a challenge because the activity was frenetic. This is one of the better shots, and still it is poorly focussed. There was no escape or rescue for this Lady bug, it was well and truely caught.

This tiny bug can hardly make a good macro shot for me. I blame it on its size and the competency level of the kit lens used. And yet I still think it lives up well to my bokeh upload with some sense of depth perception.

Let me share a little profile on this petite creepy-crawly, I think it belongs to a stink bug family. I remember this type of bug is quite a nuisance that would discharge stinky smell when they got disturbed. In a good dry season they may congregate in millions. It is known to be agricultural pest that causes widespread damage to fruits, vegetables and crops.

When you see this kind of bug, don’t try to pick it up, just take a picture and leave.

Don’t bug the bug!

HBW everyone!

Was ich wollte, war eine olle Wanze in ihrer Schönheit und Vollkommenheit zeigen. und ich finde, sie ist schön!

What I wanted is, to show how beautiful and perfect a vulgar true bug could be!

I'm pretty much a novice at anything other than geometric patterning. I was experimenting with shapes, and they looked like a bug. I looked at Swooshable for help with 180 degree snot-work, and they had a thing with finger hinges that worked decently. It's a bit fragile, but it's all stuck together -- a minor victory. Anyway, I learned something new while making it, so that's good. Now I only have about 15.3 trillion more new things to learn about LEGO. ;-)

Does anyone out there know the name of this bug?

Thank you joeyjoe1 for the name "Colorado Potato Beetle"
