— Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

Death—it is good, wonderful! It can smash the most powerful ego, making us realize the emptiness of all things. It teaches us not to cling to our secular world. . . . Contemplating death, there is nobody and nothing we cannot accommodate. It offers us a new life, the chance to start over.

— Master Jingzong

Built in 1991, sitting majestically on a hilltop in Ladakh at height of 14000 ft, is a Buddhist white domed stupa called the Shanti Stupa. It was built to promote world peace and prosperity and to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism. It is considered a symbol of the ties between the people of Japan and Ladakh.
