I needed a little square shot to symbolise books on my new website.

I chose this orange book to go with the style of the site......
I have wanted to do one of these for some time. Sure, it's part ego, but mostly I did it for my son to have something of me, by me. I dedicated it to him and my sister and my folks. : )

They don't really go together.

In this computer age, still the book lovers opt for the published work as can be seen here where the activity of selection of the books is underway by these book buyers.
Small sized hardcover book, opened around the center, with brownish pages flipping in the air. No text is visible making it look blank.
This had me doing a double take (and then doubling back for a photo) on Brighton seafront. The person on the bench was completely obscured from view and the coffee and book poking out over the top were all you could see, not forgetting the dog of course.
My guilty pleasure is reading. We have so many books that we've run out of room so I try to use the library now. It is impossible to resist vintage copies of old favorites.
I bought several books for R$ 2,00 each one! I've bought two at Canoas mall and the rest in a dollar store in Porto Alegre.
I love old books. They tell you stories about their use. You can see where the fingerprints touched the pages as they held the book open. You can see how long they lingered on each page by the finger stains

Verstaubt.

it's been a while since I did an SP in a bookstore/library. my job really has nothing to do with these books (or any books), but they make better photos than brown repository boxes full of dirty files.
My mom gave me some of her old quilting books to help get me started. She has been quilting for years.
There are some real historic books to be found in the vaults... I just wish there was more time to wander around and choose your subject.

when i was growing up i was always encouraged to read ... and read more ... i was told that between the written words and my imagination i could visit anywhere i wanted ... i'm glad i was raised that way, and i still love to read, but i prefer books ... real books ... not an e-reader like friends have ... somehow there is just something personal about a book, feathering thru the pages, hearing them flutter, wondering whose hands has held it before me and enjoyed the words ...
it's stormy and windy outside now, so please excuse me ... i think i'll curl up with a good book for awhile ... ;-)
This is about 1/4 of our books - and I give away books all the time! This is part of the bookcases on either side of our fireplace, with cupboards below stuffed full of books also, as well as lots in other rooms. Here I have biography, fiction, travel (I love travel essays) and lots of architecture and interior design. I don't like these dark wood shelves - we will have white shelves in our Montana house for all the books.
