I'm book making

I'm stuck inside doing heaps of paperwork for our next passage - and I thought I had left pat-time office work behind ;o)))))

I have typed, coped and pasted, printed enough information on maps, charts Google earth photos and tide tables to fill three folders - this is just part of the preparation work that is done before each time we sail out into unknown waters - I like to have hard copies of everything and not to relying on chart plotters and the computer

For Macro Mondays - "Evolution"

This weekend I tried out book binding for the first time. I was pleased with the results, but learned many lessons for doing a better job next time. I was inspired by (but not nearly as careful as) this writeup.

Leaky's Second-hand Bookshop, a converted church, quite possibly the finest used book store in the world. Hours of entertainment!

if you are in the mood for the trip to Rome

Dear Tito agreed to comment on images I have decided to include in this book. Alberto was very kind to make an introduction. With the help from my wife and my friends who spend countless hours on reading and editing.

A terrific cover!

I remember doing this kind of still life before using an apple as a book mark. Thought I would give it another try for this month's challenge. My biggest challenge was not getting the book wet. ;o)))

A room without books is like a body without a soul. ― Marcus Tullius Cicero

“Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.”

― Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Shadow of the Wind

I displayed some pretty books on the ledge in the living room, inspired by this amazing photo.

This was an exercise in creating the appearance of levitation. I used three separate photos to create this. On image was taken of just the background without the elevated book. The second image was of the background again with certain elements painted with light, like the pelican and the books in the foreground. And the third image was a photo of the background with an open book (that I also painted with light) sitting on top of a cylinder jar.

I layered all three images masking in our or out the specific elements and then added a shadow under the book using Lightroom.

I sold a book cover that's written in German. I think the title is called, "I miss you" Terrible title, but not my call. Ha.

I took a picture of the computer screen so its a bad quality shot of it.

The @shoottheskies books have arrived! I'll be signing, numbering, and sending out the 2,225 copies over the next couple weeks. Merry Christmas! This is my favorite photo from the project in b&w, wallowa lake, mt joseph and the milky way.

It's snowing here so work is out :) what a better way to spend the day than keeping warm, reading books and drinking coffee...

A good book deserves to be loved.

Where to begin and when to end, sometimes a book is my only friend

This book I read is filled

Pages of pages that wait for me

Collected, bound and held within

Its message penned and posed to see

Watching eyes look to scan

Horizons brim with each new page

Down the page I fall in line

Pouring over words in its design

Touching and ever turning in the fold

These pages that lay and wait for me

One by one until in finished fashion

I reach and read the end

And there this book I read fills me
