Books never makes us feel lonely, they are our best friends who would never want to harm us <3
L M To the beautiful place : maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Serena%20Nova%20Zembla/83/...
Looking for a Cartier-Bresson book for a friend learning photography and I fell into another universe. Deep. And more than one.
Even robins like to visit the library. I guess it had settled on 'Planting Combinations'. Or maybe it was looking for a book worm? :grinning:
a small corner on the mantelshelf in the workingroom of Rembrandt in the Rembrandthuis (house of Rembrandt). If you ever are Amsterdam you just have to go and see this. Wonderful house, lots to see like these old books. Preferably take a day without too much tourists otherwise... well it can get crowded.

and yet some more books
Taken in the Pilgrim Museum in Leiden.
In 1608 a group of Calvinist Protestants split from the Anglican church and left persecution in Nottinghamshire, England, for a journey that would span decades and thousands of miles.
In Leiden they found a more liberal atmosphere, thanks to the university and some like-minded Calvinists who already lived there. They also found company with refugees who had escaped from persecution elsewhere.
The first group of English left Leiden in 1620 for Delfshaven in what is now Rotterdam, where they bought the Speedwell with the intention of sailing to the New World. Unfortunately, the leaky Speedwell didn’t live up to its name; after several attempts to cross the Atlantic, the group gave up and, against their better judgement, sailed into Southampton in England. After repairs to their ship and a thwarted attempt to restart their journey, the group joined the much more seaworthy Mayflower in Dartmouth and sailed, as it were, into history as the Pilgrims.
In Leiden today, traces of the Pilgrims are elusive. The best place to start is the tiny Leiden American Pilgrim Museum , a fascinating restoration of a house occupied around 1610 by the soon-to-be Pilgrims. The house itself dates from 1375, but the furnishings are from the Pilgrims’ period.
textures are my own
Just learnt a new technique featured in the digital photo magazine November issue.
I took this photo when helping out on a photo shoot recently.
Added the book, sky, job done!
What do you think?
anselm kiefer's "book with wings." a ridiculously cool sculpture at the museum of modern art of fort worth. the book of knowledge has wings 13 feet wide which appear poised for flight. but being made of lead, with wings of tin, this knowledge can never take flight. kiefer is a german artist born in 1945, and this piece seems to explore his struggle with the horror over his country's nazi heritage and the jewish holocaust.

I really like the way the slope adds an interesting and contrasting angle
You can see all those books more clearly in large
"The delivery boy was befuddled.
"How ever will I pay for all these pizzas?" cooed Ginger, smiling coyly as her bath towel settled about her feet..."

This image was taken in the Old Library Building’s Long Room. (Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland)
The trinity college was founded in 1592. It contains the largest library in Ireland. The Library is also well known because it is the permanent home of the famous Book of Kells.
Canon EOS, extracted from a single raw file. Unfortunatly I have not been allowed to use my tripod in there.
I'm visiting Portland, Oregon for the first time this weekend. After arriving downtown early this afternoon and checking into our hotel, we headed out to explore the area. Enjoyed some good food, great cask-conditioned ale, and Powell's City of Books. This amazing bookstore consumes an entire city block and has multiple levels. It's easily the biggest bookstore I've ever been to. It was packed with people, a great thing to see in this age of online and digital everything.
