National Library of Latvia
Riga
"Looking at the building we see an intriguing form. It is visually attractive to us. What is it like? It is expressive. It is a library, a functional symbol. It is a reminder of an outstanding historical event, important for Latvia, the making of its statehood, as well as praise to the rebirth of the state and its renewed collections of cultural treasures.
The linear nature of words fail to describe fully the three dimensional architectural shape. As to the expressivity the form has many meanings.
To perceive its meaning, it we have to return to the feelings and intuition that accompanied the moment of creation." (the architect Gunars Birkerts about the idea of the project)

("Book of Love" by Peter Gabriel ;from the movie "Shall We Dance")
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing.
But I
I love it when you read to me
And you
You can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb.
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything...

Thanks to ALL my Flickr Friends for their inspiration.

“Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Every time a book changes hands, every time someone runs his eyes down its pages, its spirit grows and strengthens.”
― Carlos Ruiz Zafón,
I've decided to make a big portfolio with some images of each category (conceptual, fine art, portraiture, arquitecture, product, food, etc).
This is my first image of the project, a big image for a book (or a movie) cover. Maybe I will add some text on it, faking a real book or movie.
Hope you like it!
Don't forget my giveaway, you could win 25+ of my photos! --> www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=217485841708444&set=a...

--> www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=217485841708444&set=a...

Sorry about he cliche shot but It is the best of a bad bunch. It was hard to come up with a new idea. I have been doing a book shot each month for the "Colour" group and have used up all my ideas.

Book Mountain s a new eco library that proudly stands in the heart of Spijkenisse and is surrounded by the old town and a new housing project. In an area with 10% illiteracy, this new library is a monument to reading and its pyramid-shaped design will attract many new readers into its folds. The building is crafted from brick and glass with a giant stepped mountain of books inside. Library visitors will easily find inspiration within the space and have fun climbing around and exploring the collection.

Happy Valentine's dear Flickr friends!!!
Taken at the old Nicholas Hoare store on Front Street - Toronto's best-ever bookstore! I looked up while browsing books on a table and caught this pair of lovers...
A Christmas tree of books in the Ramapo High School Library. I just hope no student needs the 1965 edition of the book Review Digest in the base Please be advised Flickr has been so wonky lately I can barely accomplish anything. I am NOT ignoring you or your photos. I keep loosing connection and downloads must be attempted2 or more times before they take. I may have to find a new service but I have too many photos here now to move.
