Bolt, after smashing the men's 200m record.
The olympics are beyond any doubt the biggest spectacle on earth. Covering the Beijing Olympics was a huge honor in itself. You want to know what was even bigger ? Covering those historic moments, as they were happening (with world records being smashed right before my very eyes)
As per my understanding of the IOC blogging guidelines for accredited photographers, www.ittf.com/world_events/Olympic_games_2008/Blogging guidelines_ 06_02_2008_e.pdf , the photo above does not violate any guideline especially point #4 and has been placed only to display as part of my olympics portfolio. January 17, 2010: Taken with the STUN Photography Group, at their fantastic 'HEAVY METAL' mega model photo shoot: four hours of industrial-strength photography.
The organizers did such a phenomenal job of assembling a hot-house of visual splendor, that pretty much all a person had to do is walk around and randomly push the little clicky-button on top of their camera all afternoon. As long as one was careful not to cover up the front lens in the process, then a stunning photo was pretty much guaranteed! (Although 'super-stunning' images always require a bit of talent.)
I know that I wasn't able to do the event justice. So much missed opportunity and learning was left for another day. ~~ Thanks to everybody involved with putting this on. T'was a very swell day in the icy sticks of the midwest! :)
My sister and her leopard gecko, Bolt.
Bolt's a cute little lizard. She's amazing.
And she's fast--she was named because of her speed.
i don't know why i like this. i guess it's because i have a fascination with bolts. don't ask me why, because i don't know. :-))
this was in the middle of the base of a wood carving of a Lumberjack. i would imagine that it was to bolt the Lumberjack to the ground so that no one would steal it.
The bolts holding on the axleboxes were rusted solid. They resisted all attempts to undo them. So eventually I resorted to more extreme measures, angle grinding through the top of the bolt. This is the U-channel of the frame after the bolts for one axlebox had been removed.
