I named this one missed bolt because I missed the main event. The camera was set to expose for several seconds. The bolt in the upper left corner had just started to send out its fingers when the exposure ended. At the same time the exposure ended the full lightning bolt hit. It was massive. I posted this photo because I like the shapes in the bolt and the colors of the sky from the reflection of the city lights.
This goes to Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt (b. Trelawny, 1986), one of the best athletes ever. The guy is out of this World

Hey Guys,
This will most likely be the final image of this amazing rock, sorry for the overload :)
This was my last run of 9 shots and the water just happened to form this almost lightning bolt pointing straight to the rock, mother nature at her best :)

A lightning bolt strikes South Mountain just West of Utah Lake. Taken in Utah County, Utah tonight (2014-08-06). No Photoshop, Lightroom only. via 500px ift.tt/1vdWWlS
After work went out to the lake to try and catch mr. Bolt. The storm at times was quite intense and the sky was a wierd colour.
Last night was incredible. The entire valley was filled with lightening bolts. We drove to the end of our street and set the van up so that the back was pointing to one of the storms. I held a cable release with the camera on a tripod. As soon as a flash went off I pushed the button. This is not an exact science, but it did work.
For this bolt I processed using Lightroom 2. I enhanced the colors darkened the exposure and then exported to CS4 and added a touch of Topaz adjust. I still have a few minor areas to fix, but overall the photo is pleasing to me. This photo has so much action happening that it is almost hard to believe. The colors of the sun starting to set, the rain, the shape of the clouds and the lightening bolt all add to a dramatic photo.
Thank you for visiting tonight.

Onehunga minimilsm, one of only 5 frames before it went completely nuts with rain and gail force winds, bizarre that a small bolt of lightning happened at this time - but I'll take it - thanks Huey :-)
