The butterfly as a symbol is very powerful. Although it is considered a living metaphor of all that is ephemeral and inconstant (because it has a short life and flourishes in flower), in art the butterfly is a symbol of the spirituality of the soul able to free itself from the raw material as the chrysalis free from its cocoon. Formerly connected with the Goddess of Regeneration, symbol of death and resurrection, for ancient peoples such as Romans, Greeks, Celts of the Gauls and Ireland (and overseas, for the Aztecs) the souls of the dead were transformed into butterflies. In the Greek language the term psyché means equally "spirit", "human soul" and fapfalla. Dreaming of a butterfly faint flashes that we are renewing ourselves. It is also called "light as a butterfly": light is the awakened spirit, which detaches itself from the past and stands out the flight to freedom and the joy of being.
