Khaos Republic is one of the most beautiful creatures I have had the pleasure of getting to know in Second Life. I'm so lucky to get to meet my Flickr heroes and discover they are some of the kindest, sexiest, and most badass people I know. Khaos has come to many of my DJ sets and talks with me about music and toooooooootally doesn't mind when I fawn over her booty. So here's a pic of me in total adoration of her. <3
My first visit to my local site near the River Tavy for Marbled Whites was unsuccessful but did manage this shot of a male Beautiful Demoiselle.
Bad Oeynhausen is a nice little town in East Westpalia, famous as a spa centre for more than a century. My favourite place in town is the Kurpark (spa gardens) with beautiful garden architecture and historical buildings of the early days of the spa era. This Saturday we enjoyed the perfect Summer weather and took some pictures of the colourful nature and architecture.
Last week I returned from a trip to The Gambia. I had visited that country last October and I was so enchanted with one of the camps that it stuck firmly in my mind. So when Dennis and Sandra came to visit and Sandra complained a bit that her husband-to-be was invited for a trip abroad and she was to stay home, I said that perhaps I might have an idea. Two weeks later we landed on Gambian soil :-).
This is a picture of the Beautiful Sunbird as this petite beauty is aptly named. It came to the garden of the camp to drink with the enormous trunk of a palm tree as colorfull background.
I've updated the Wildlife diary with a day at Marakissa River Camp:
A light fog still touches the water of the Marakissa River and the orangepink promise of yet another sunny day is glowing behind the palm trees when we step into our canoe that morning. When we push off from the bank a Pied Kingfisher plunges into the water right next to us in search for breakfast and we nearly jump out of our skin when a Purple Heron crashes out of its hiding with a loud shriek and decides to head for (even) quieter grounds. This shot was taken near Vang Vieng Loas. A grand and beautiful place in Asia.
I spent so many hours walking around this area it's not even funny. There are little paths though the rice which means there is water all around. At times it can be nerve racking with so much expensive camera equipment. I kept telling myself that's why I bought it, but it still made me nervous.
I used a graduated ND filter for this shot, not HDR.

Found this weed flower next to a lake. I did wanted to do a macro but with my 100-400 in bag there is no space for other lens and i had to attempt it using 100-400L.
Why do we have to keep so many lens :(
I really like this photo and this is a black & white version to print.
It goes well with a black border.
another beautiful morning along the Colorado River as it flows to Moab near Goose Island. As I bushwacked down the river bank, I flushed a great blue heron. Almost gave me a heart attack it was huge up close.
Taking the jet boat ride from Moab on the Colorado to the Gooseneck in Canyonlands NP tomorrow. may be more river shots to come...
