At every opportunity Basil Bat moves into our roof Toldo to sleep. We try to get up before daylight and open the toldo but this time too late again. Opened it up and there he/she was snoozing. Flew off to find another cosy canopy ... ☺
Thai basil flower - This plant grows in my garden surprisingly survives the cold spell in Hong Kong and still smells fragrant. It's now 0 degree at night. Brrrrr.....
Basil (Ocimum basilicum), also called great basil or Saint-Joseph's-wort. Washed leaves in decorative bowl. Wooden board. Bluish light effect in green background.

Basil is 11, he belongs to my friends Anna and Thom. So, he is like a nephew to me. Here he is, at his summer home, Brainard Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. He winters in Lake Havasau AZ. Basil is a fox wire terrier....everyone asks, honest.

Viewed from Central Drive. Sandfield Park.
Built about 1840, was the residence of John Caton Thompson, attorney and solicitor 1851. In 1871 James Lister who Lister Drive was named, lived there.

Just my basil on the kitchen window sill. Nothing of colour in our garden right now. Must venture to the Botanical Gardens soon.

I've never had a mojito before, and now I LOVE them! I had this one at the Black Rock Resort bar in Ucluelet, which is on Vancouver Island. Goes down easily, could have kept drinking these...
Given that I'm already harvesting basil by the mop-bucket-full, I'm feeling pretty confident that we grew enough basil this year to make it though the coming winter very comfortably: pesto eggs, basil popcorn ...
Myself and Basil after we ran out of cheese and his accidentally head butted me coming out of the reservoir! Ouch

Basil Stathoulis is one of South Africa's most brillaintly gifted and prodigious photographers. My own Durban trip would have been less fruitful without his wonderful help in setting up a shoot. Check out both his Flickr gallery and his site at:
The chives aren't holding up well, but the basil and mint are doing fine. Next year, I'll plant a large amount of chives, maybe some along the edges of the patio slabs where there's dirt and sun.
We moved the thyme to another spot and replaced it with a pot of rocks.
Not sure why we have a pot of rocks, but it looks nice. And as long as I don't use those on my bagel, I'll be fine.
