Bandung is Indonesia's third largest city, after Capital Jakarta and Surabaya. Surrounded by volcanic terrain, it is elevated 768m above the sea level, thus giving the city a cooler temperature all year-round and making it a perfect resort gateaway for most Jakartans during the weekend. With the completion of Cipularang Highway, Bandung is only 2 hours away from Jakarta.
Most hotels in Bandung are scattered around the city area and the mountain area known as Dago and city of Lembang. On this particular visit, I chose to stay at the newest kid on the block; and the city's most luxurious hotel, The Hilton Bandung.
This is one of a few hotels that surprised me the most; and I was in complete awe the whole time I was there. The architecture is so modern and breathtaking, it certainly makes some of Jakarta's top hotels blushing in inferiority. And best of all, the service was quite outstanding even though it is only a month old, I felt that it is the perfect ambassador to showcase the true Indonesian hospitality.
The person to be thanked for providing this rare jewel is no other than the owner himself, Tatang Hermawan, who is one of Indonesia's richest persons; and also owns the Conrad Bali. His superior taste and panache are very much evidence in his hotels. Thanks to him that trophy projects like this could be immortalized out of the drawing board into a reality.

Taken on my first night in Bandung. Had an unusual dinner in a classy Indonesian restaurant in Dago heights, a hill near Bandung. As you can see, there are no tall buildings in Bandung.
