Day Three: Further. I can't believe it! "Wiener Dog!" I exclaimed. "You're the manager?"
He sighed. "Ricki, I can have my tiger eat you."
I gave the tiger a glance and it licked its lips. "Okay, Matthias, why am I here?"
He pointed at a document on his desk. "You've filed for an archaeological exploration, but it doesn't mention what you're hoping to find beyond evidence of ruins."
"Is there something wrong with that?" I asked, getting comfortable in one of the chairs facing his desk.
"Since when have you been interested in ancient architecture?" he asked.
"Since when have you been interested in management?" I countered.
"Why don't we discuss our recent changes in interest over a game of backgammon?" he suggested.
"Whatever you say -- Wiener Dog," I agreed, smiling.

Backgammon is one of the oldest games known to man, sources date back some 5,000 years. It is believed the present form dates back to the 10th century.
It is said that you can learn the fundamentals of the game in 30minutes, but it is a life's work to learn the secrets of the strategy of Backgammon. I'm still a learner.
A travelling backgammon set. The pieces are about 15mm diameter
Very old backgammon game on display at Leeds Castle. I can just imagine the stories this board could tell!!
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Ahhhhh, the good life....playing tavli/backgammon and smoking the shishah under the ancient city walls in Café Sur, near Gulhane Park.
The son of the owner and me playing!!
Wont tell you the score...;-)))
BTW I dont smoke cigarettes........:-)))
only occasional waterpipe! love it!!
Waterpipe is lovely, its relaxing, you have to take your time to smoke it, its not something you do in 10 min,
You sit at least for 1 hr with a waterpipe, you share the pipe with the company you are with, but you can also smoke a pipe alone. I dont smoke one alone.
It doesnt hurt in your throat like even one ciggie would do for me, it doesnt stink like ciggies......
And for me its very occasional, not something I do on your own either, here sometimes I smoke with my daughter or son, outside!!!
Sitting on a long summer evening in the sun in my garden, ....chatting away with pipe and a herbal tea!! (no alcohol!!)
you should give it a go sometime.......:-))))
Well, that was my teaching of the way of the waterpipe
(Specially for baba.eduard;-))
My husband is teaching our six year old to play backgammon. For a while, the boy has been watching his dad play it on his phone. This morning, I suggested that it might be even more fun to play together. It seems to have worked. By the afternoon, the boy had challenged dad to a tournament. Competitive like his mum; there could be fireworks.

(I took so many pictures today and couldn't narrow it down to just one, sorry)
