The colours last week at Algonquin Park were dazzling, some frequent visitors saying they were the brightest in 20 years. This maple is a perfect example.

The summer ends and autumn appears with its immense beauty and its melancholy.
I have the feeling that the years fly by, and I would stop time and enjoy in those moments experienced as warm, simple and intimate.
Occasionally there happen things that make us change our expectations and priorities of life. That mark one before and one later turning into another person ... neither better nor worse, simply different.
Sometimes i sit down a strange mixture of love and lack of affection, of illusion and disenchantment, of worry and indifference, of desire and weariness, of wisdom and absolute ignorance ... a mixture of everything and of nothing... but luckily the fall always makes me happy.
Just returned home from a trip to Gambia but I haven't been able to process the pictures I shot there, as I'm busy with the preparations of the 25th anniversity photo festival of our photoclub, the VNF (Vereniging Natuurfotografen).
I wanted to share this picture with you as it is part of an absolutely touchingly beautiful presentation about the National park de Veluwe which will also be shown at the festival. As our photoclub is located in Apeldoorn, which is located almost next to the Veluwe, lots of members sent in their most beautiful pictures of this area.
For those of you who live in Holland; the festival promises to become a fantastic event, with lots of famous guest speakers, among which Wild Wonders of Europe photographer Jari Peltomaki and one of Holland's most well-known nature photographers (who is also a member of our club) Jan Vermeer. I'm presenting the festival and it would be awesome to see you all there!
You can read more about it on my blog. The festival will be held on saturday 5th of November in the Hanzehof in Zutphen. You can read more about the photoclub and the festival at the club's site: VNF-Apeldoorn. Hope to see you all at the festival on the 5th!!
One of many inspiring areas I had fun exploring around Kittitas county on the other side of the Cascades.

As autumn winds down, its remaining foliage rains down and gets lost with the wind.
This picture was scanned from a Kodachrome 64 slide taken in Groveland MA in the late eighties. Using a Nikon FE-2.

Been so busy this year that it seems like autumn slipped right by me....thank goodness for the archives. This one was photographed at Lincoln's New Salem Historical Site last fall.
Have a great week; will catch up with everyone soon. Thanks for all your visits and comments!!!!

Another shot from our trip to the dune area near Vogelenzang.
A distant photographer, carrying a tripod, is searching for photographic opportunities. The autumn colors and misty forest provide a fairy-like mood.
I love this photograph a lot. It could well be my best of 2012. Hope you enjoy it too!
I was setting my camera on tripod for forest vertical panning.. Then, perfect couple is walking toward my camera. I was using timer... They probably do not notice I am taking photos... Lucky day.

Sometimes the colors of autumn assault; at other times, they seduce. On many occasions they do both.
"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." - Anne Frank
We had a temperature swing. In 24 hours it went from a delicious, sweaty, baking, sensual, wondrous high of 95 F (35c) to a chilly high of 70 F (21c). I went from light clothes to a fur coat. From the Bahamas to Alaska. From iced tea to hot coffee. I had the heat on in the car, dammit, and the space heater on under my desk.
There are seven days left in summer before the Autumnus Equinox. I will not let go of sa...sa...sum...ma...mer (did my teeth just chatter there?) . I will cling, clinch, claw, bite to hold on to every last minute of sun and warmth and....aah, who am I kidding.
Can Acceptance and Resistance both fit into a Taijitu? Is my Zen that flexible? Which shall be Yin? Which shall be Yang?
Comes Autumn, perhaps?
Of course, Dear Anne. I shall think of the beauty and be happy.
