Ricketts Glen State Park, PA

Last day & a half I was visiting Ricketts Glen for autumn. Though most commented this year's color wasn't as good as many years (and much of it was post-peak color) it still was wonderful, and I found some color.

Since the weather is not ideal and I haven't got the time to go outside and take some autumn shots...

I have to upload one from last year. But hopefully, I get the change to take some new ones this weekend! =)

‘Autumn Leaves’ was shot in the Shenandoah mountains along Skyline Drive.

Autumn is one of the best times of the year. The air gets a little crisper and everything seems so much more colorful. When the leaves start changing color, you know all the holidays are right around the corner.

Autumn Leaves

I know, I know, ANOTHER autumn leaf picture.

You'll just have to bear with me on this little indulgence - I've been deprived of beautiful autumn for far too long :)

Even when all the leaves have fallen off the trees, Autumn is not over in Northern Wisconsin. In late October and early November another autumn season starts when the Tamaracks or Larches needles turn golden brown and put on their breathtaking colorful display. Tamaracks are the only pine trees that lose their needles every year. This is a view of Mud Lake in Northern Vilas County as the sun came up and set the Tamaracks on fire.

I have made a set called Autumn 2011 where I am putting all my autumn photos of 2011 in. If you missed any of my autumn photos of 2011 they are all in the set. Here is a link to the set: www.flickr.com/photos/mmnorthwoods/sets/72157627869084902/

Took a bit of a last minute decision "drive about" on Friday and was really glad I did. I'd like to thank my wife for "making" me get my butt out of the house and shoot. :)

There is still some great color around so I'm hopeful this week might yield more promising images. I pretty much stumbled upon the above scene when I decided to walk up a gravel road I'd never been down in Upperville. :^)

Really was going for the classic composition triumvirate of fore, middle and background.

I have been on a kind of a "single exposure back to basics" kick lately but this image is comprised of five exposures processed with, what I hope is, a light enough touch to even appeal to the "Anti-HDR-ites" out there. I was after showing the detail in the wall and no single exposure yielded the desired results.

Autumn colours at Batsford arboretum, Cotwolds, England

There were some amazing autumn colour son show last week before the storms hit, this shows the leaves starting to turn.

The colours are not enhanced in any way they really were this colour and this bright, probably one of the most vibrant I've seen in a long time.
