Star Trails
A star trail is a type of photograph that utilizes long-exposure times to capture the apparent motion of stars in the night sky due to the rotation of the Earth. Star trail photographs are possible because of the rotation of the Earth on its axis. The apparent motion of the stars is recorded as streaks. For observers in the northern hemisphere, aiming the camera towards the north creates an image with concentric circular streaks centered around the north celestial pole. The North Star sits near the point of rotation for the axis of the Earth directly above the North Pole.
I am a newbie 'rookie' at this so still learning the ins and outs of star trail photography. More to try in the coming weeks. I definitely need to use more images for the stack....clouds rolled in and killed the shoot after 221 pics.
221 images stacked: each at 30 seconds, ISO 800, 28mm, f/3.5, Tungsten white balance applied to each image (selected in camera settings).

i finaly found out how to blend two photos like this! its not amazing but for a first attempt im pretty happy :) what do you guys think? any tips or hints? Thank you, all feedback, posative and negative is welcome, enjoy!

The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy is a barred-spiral galaxy about 15 million light years away, making it one of the closest and brightest galaxies in the sky. It is visible using binoculars or a small telescope in the southern constellation of Hydra. Prints
Image information:
2 hours in B, V, and i' filters plus 4 hours in PanStarrs-W filter on LCOGT 1.0 m telescopes. 15 min in H-alpha, and 10 min in R from the 6.5 m Magellan Baade telescope at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile.
Shot with an unmodified Nikon D7000, ISO1600, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 stopped at f/3.5 on an iOptron SkyTracker.
30 x 2' subs were stacked.

Acquired from Lake Sonoma, CA the night of Jan 24, 2015
Made up of 1 hour 20 mins of exposures of 30 seconds each, minus a few pictures I had to remove due to cloud. Hence the gaps in the trails.
Taken with a TMB92L, Canon T3i DSLR, Orion SSAG autoguider and 50mm guidescope, and Celestron AVX mount. Consists of 59 90-second light frames, 40 90-second dark frames, 40 10-second light frames, 20 10-second dark frames, and 40 5-second exposures, all at ISO 800, as well as 15 flats. Captured with BackyardEOS, stacked in DeepSkyStacker, and processed in Photoshop.
Here is a shot of M78 in Orion. I was testing a Canon 60Da on a C14 with Hyperstar for Celestron.
