A very surprising yet welcome upgrade is this 77L of Turkmenistan due to fly 4 fridays in a row during August instead of the 738.

I hope they'll bring their 757s more often in the future...

Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque or Gypjak Mosque is a mosque in the village of Gypjak about 7 kilometres west of the centre of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The mosque, constructed by the French company Bouygues, was built in the home town of President Saparmurat Niyazov. It opened on October 22, 2004 and was built by Niyazov with a tomb in preparation for his death. Niyazov died two years later, and was buried in the tomb on December 24, 2006.

The mosque has been at the center of controversy as scriptures from both the Quran and the Ruhnama (Book of Soul), Niyazov's 'pseudo-spiritual guide to life' are built into the walls. It has outraged many Muslims that the Ruhnama is placed as the Koran's equal.

017 is the one coming almost every week on the new TUA401/402 flight from Ashgabat.

The contrast is evident in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

A strange Oasis in the middle of the desert. A monumental city with large avenues, big gardens, lot of administrative buildings and a big amount of residential luxure towers.

Really near, the things are different.

Salmo 96(95),1-2a.2b-3.11-12.13.

Canten al Señor un canto nuevo,

cante al Señor toda la tierra;

canten al Señor, bendigan su Nombre,

día tras día, proclamen su victoria.

Anuncien su gloria entre las naciones,

y sus maravillas entre los pueblos.

Alégrese el cielo y exulte la tierra,

resuene el mar y todo lo que hay en él;

The "Independence Monument" is a monument located in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The design of this building was inspired by traditional Turkmen tents and the traditional headgear worn by Turkmen girls. Elements of the building commemorate the independence date of Turkmenistan, 27 October 1991. These elements include a 91-meter reinforced concrete tower with a 27-metre high golden gilt steel construction on top of the tower, along with an observation terrace with a diameter of 10 metres. Within the building, there are exhibition halls where important works of art representing Turkmenistan history are displayed. The Monument of Independence sits on a total area of 84,500 m², surrounded by green landscaping that encompasses a cascaded pool and the statues of 27 historical heroes of the Turkmens that guided Turkmenistan history.

You had to be a bit crazy to believe this shot was possible today : the Turkmenistan flight is scheduled to depart at 07:10am ; sunrise is at 8am ; it was overcast at sunrise. Yet I decided there was a chance so I woke up early and headed for CDG. Thanks to my friend Mike I could anticipate the runway to be used : 27L today. Two minutes before she lined up, the sun broke off the clouds!! So here it is, my first shot of Turkmenistan 402 at CDG, thanks to more than 3 yours delay and that is a blessing that they are unable to be on time! TUA started this once weekly flight from Ashgabat in late December 2013 and so far I have not seen any other picture of it.
