The Singapopre Marina Bay annual countdown 2013 is a much anticipated event as the nation ushers in a new year. Members of the public can pen their New Year hopes and wishes on wishing spheres (large balls) and 20,000 of these will be set afloat on the waters of Marina Bay on Dec 31, 2012. Based on last year's statistics, there were over 500,000 wishes penned by the community on 20,000 wishing spheres.

As the year draws to a close, we take stock of our lives and count our many blessings. What are we grateful for?

Farewells can be both beautiful and despicable. Saying farewell to one who is loved is very complicated. Why should a person be obligated to stand such sweet pain and such bitter pleasure?

I had long wanted to capture this scene but really lack the discipline to wake up early in the morning.

Even with 3 alarms each at 5-10mins interval enabled, I could still dismiss the alarms and go back to bed. =P

This is one of the rare occasion that I managed to wake up!

For now, I am glad that I finally able to “bag” this shot. =)

Another picture of the Marina Bay in Singapore.

As the Singapore Flyer rotates the views keep refreshing. At certain point you get a full unobstructed view of Marina Bay just like this. A visual feast awaits photographers looking for the best vantage point...

file:mbsDSC_2040.jpg

Again, need to do this handheld at higher ISO 1250 as the flyer is rotating. Perhaps a higher end DSLR will come in handy for situation like this to achieve better noise control...

On my copyright case against Ink Global: Please forgive me. I've thrown the copyright infiltrators (Ink) out at open sea to feed the hungry sharks while in my dreams. Ruthless as it may seems but they deserved to be punished one way or another for their incorrigible deeds! The show ain't over as yet... it's just the beginning of a long hard journey for Ink Global to realize the consequences on Image Theft...

Many thanks for your visits / comments / favs!

A view of the famous Singapore River captured from the very top of Novotel Hotel.

Seen below are huge roofing canopies at Clarke Quay with colorful glittering lights at night.

Clarke Quay is a popular rendezvous for tourists and locals alike for a night of fun & entertainment. The Singapore River attractions stretches from Clarke Quay, Boat Quay up to Marina Bay with Food & entertainment along the river banks. You can also take a river cruise to enjoy the view of historical sights from Clarke Quay to Marina Bay.

Special thanks to Fara & Spencer for the kind arrangement and showing us the way to the top of Novotel. With me, Kah Wah, David & Mag for company. Thank you all.

Fireworks season again with the night sky lighted up every Saturday from late June till 9th August.

What I did...

1. Planted in the ArtScience Museum from another image

2. Removed the steel cables at the bottom left

3. Correct distortion and straighten up buildings with warp tool

4. Topazlab Adjust to bump up colors, sharpening & contrast

This time the sky was real...

Image theft is on the rise. Be vigilant and take action to stop it!

If you have not been to Marina Bay, you have never been to Singapore. Marina Bay Sands is now the iconic landmark of Singapore taking tourism to the next level.

The best time to enjoy this view would be at the blue hour (7.15-7.30pm) when the city lights turn on.

pp: Apply distortion filter to correct some barrel distortion. Colors are straight off the cam with all settings off. Only thing on is the self-timer.

As expected the sky was bleeding in joyful colors at the touch of midnight to usher in 2011 at Marina Bay.

Offset printing syn well only with CMYK files accurately. The reason why graphic designers always prefer CMYK files for print. Most photoshop plug-ins like Topazlab & Photomatix works only on RGD mode. At times when you push your colors way too much there will be a color shift when converted back to CMYK files before print. It may cause a disappointment for some unwary users. For web visual presentation on screen it poses no problem as long as you keep your manipulated files at RGB and be sure the job will have no follow-up on print production.

The Helix Bridge, previously known as the Double Helix Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore. It was officially opened on 24 April 2010 at 9 pm, however only half was opened due to ongoing construction at the Marina Bay Sands. It is located beside the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and is accompanied by a vehicular bridge, known as the Bayfront Bridge. The entire bridge was opened on 18 July 2010 to complete the entire walkway around Marina Bay.

The bridge complements other major development projects planned in the area, including the highly anticipated Integrated Resort Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay and the 438,000 m² business and financial centre.

Lately I had been shooting more sunrise than sunset, mostly due to the monsoon season which would pour the late afternoon plus evening away, making any attempts for sunset shooting a very wet affair.

Well, because of this, I realised how much I enjoyed the Marina Bay area in the early morning. The water held still for great clean shots(before bum boats start to cut through the water surface), the twilight hour did not disappoint(before the gathering of massive cloud cover), I could get my sunstars during sunrise(before it starts to rain) and the location was free of noise pollution(before the first uncouth person starts to yak away).

All good things will eventually come to an end, and it is a fact that we have only so much(little) time to enjoy them.
