I really love the vintage look from Ilford FP4+. I think I prefer it to my much used Kodak T-Max.

This may be the last roll shot on the ARAX (Hasselbladski) for a while now I have my 6x6 film back for the Mamiya RZ. It is so so easy to focus the RZ with it's lare bright viewfinder.

2013 Film Photography - Model Harriett. I keep meaning to shoot more medum format film this year but keep getting distracted by my 35mm Leicas! Facebook | Homepage | Blog | Pinterest | Twitter | Instagram

A week ago I had a couple of hours to spend. I took 1 camera 1 lens and 2 rolls of film and walked those 2 hours around a quaint area of what used to be the old town of San Angel in south Mexico City.

I did finish up those 24 frames of film, and I was surprised I found so many vissually interesting things I could photograph. All in all I walked around 20 blocks I guess....

Pentacon Six TL w/ Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm f/2.8 and Fujifilm Neopan Acros (Kodak Xtol 1:0, Ilford rapid fixer). f/3.4, 1/125s. Epson V600 and EpsonScan @ 4800 dpi, downsized to 2400 dpi. Retouched and cropped.

This was a shoot I had really looked forward to. Not only was I working with a professional model, but I also returned to using prism again on the Pentacon Six. Prior I've been disappointed with the focus accuracy, but it was in part due to that my old prism was slightly yellowed inside and that my old glasses weren't up to the job seeing finer contrast differences.

After using waistlevel finder for a couple of months, my conclusion is that it's better suited for plain focusing screens without split prism - or at least not the focusing screen from Arax that I'm currently using. Especially dince you need to find the right viewing angle to be able to see the split prism correctly.

The prism I used here, I got with another P6 body that I bought from Switzerland. Also, being able to meter through the lens again is something that I've missed. Although the meter in the prism isn't too happy about surfaces that reflects light poorly in moody light.

Alex asked me to shoot some film and liked photos with a more vintage look so I took my Hasselblad copy, the Soviet Hasselbladski! aka Kiev 88. My version is rebadged an ARAX-CM

My most used film camera! ..really! Nice size so can take when travelling (smaller than RZ) and gives shallow DOF vs Fuji GF670 / Fuji GS645. My ARAX is well travelled going to Russia, India, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine to name a few and I even preferred using it to the Contax 645 that I also used to use. The Kiev 88 is a no frills real camera. The Contax makes stunning photos yes but is very dull to use. Point, click, yawn, repeat, like a DSLR.
