Welcome to the beginning of a new series of animal shots. Some images will be from my archives, some will be brand new ones taken a couple of days ago.
In this shot, I wanted to try if a subject as colorful as an aquarium can adequately depicted in black & white. I think it worked. I had a hard time deciding if I should post this image or the color version which, of course, exists, too. But in the end, the general ordered to post this one. Who am I to object?

Aquarium Barcelona (Catalan: Aquàrium de Barcelona, IPA: [əˈkwaɾium də βərsəˈɫonə]) is an aquarium located in Port Vell, a harbor in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
The 35 aquariums at the facility are home to 11,000 animals representing 450 species, and an 80-meter (260 ft) underwater tunnel. The Aquàrium of Barcelona is part of the Aspro Group.
The aquarium is a member of the Iberian Association of Zoos and Aquaria (AIZA).
L'origine de l'Aquarium du Québec remonte à 1953, alors que le docteur Vadim D. Vladykov, pionnier de la recherche en biologie marine au Québec, cherchait à doter la capitale du Québec d'équipements de recherche adéquats, qui permettraient en outre l'éducation du public.
L'aquarium possède des jardins et bassins extérieurs et un bâtiment principal comptant plusieurs zones d'expositions. On y compte en tout 10 000 spécimens de poissons, de crustacés, de mollusques et de mammifères de 300 espèces différentes. Le Parc Aquarium s'est spécialisé dans la faune boréale et arctique.
Le site de l'Aquarium du Québec surplombe sur 16 hectares le fleuve Saint-Laurent du haut d'une falaise et est contigu à l'accès au Pont de Québec.
Ce panorama sert de décor aux jardins entourant les bâtiments principaux. On a voulu y reproduire à plus petite échelle des éléments hydrographiques québécois : rivière, cascade, étang, lac. Les rives sont plantées de plantes et de fleurs indigènes à la province.

Sometimes it’s really hard to spot aquarium fish. I have to admit that my own exotic Lego® fish are no exception ... particularly as they seem to be still a bit shy.

The beautiful (and huge!) Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta. Large enough to house some pretty amazing animals, including whale sharks, mantas and sharks, as you can see. Who is checking who out?

Lisa and I visited La Rochelle for one day and also took a stop at the Aquarium there - I can only recommend it.

A dramatic pose by quite a few cosplayers at the GA Aquarium. I got smart this time and brought my tripod and remote trigger do that I could take good (or better!) shots in the ambient light - without a flash - and no blurriness. Go me!!!
Tech stuff: used Topaz Adjust's "Dark - Ghostly" filter on a copied layer of the image then very slowly and carefully erased the filter (29% opacity and flow) from that layer with a "water brush" (PS brush that simulated water such as waves) until I got the effect I wanted with a bit of a watery vibe to the photo.
