""Graffiti is one of the most free art expressions of the world; you don’t do it for money nor for an institution, it’s free expression and it liberates yourself creatively from a lot of restrictions."

Quote — Roa

This is the last wall Roa made in his home town (Ghent, Belgium), somewhere around 2009. Meanwhile Roa became a legend and his work can be found worldwide.

Location: Tempelhof , 9000 Ghent, Belgium

Info - www.streetartbio.com/roa :

""Street artist Roa is a muralist from Ghent, Belgium whose work has often been recorded and photographed, but very little is known about the artist and even less is documented.

At a very young age Roa remembers wanting to be an archaeologist or something adventurous and collecting little skulls from birds and rodents to draw at home. He grew up in the eighties and naturally was inspired by the American life; music, skating and so forth. The love for music, more in particular hip-hop, quickly joined his curiosity in graffiti. Like most muralists, he began by spraying throw-ups under bridges and walls. During his early years, Roa expressed an active, eclectic mix of styles. At the time, there was not prevailing movement in Belgium. As time went on, the scene’s evolution further evolved as foreign visitors left behind an assorted collection of talents and skills. Slowly but sure Roa became addicted to the nature of urban art.

Roa is primarily known for his strong obsession for animals and rodents. He often combines life, death, and life after death in his murals, which quickly distinguishes him amongst traditional muralists. His animals are painted to include skeleton and internal organs, making the sight even more realistic. The artist states, "Organs are the vital substances of our body and they represent a lot of the symbolism which I like!" One's love for animals could not be expressed nearly as much as our artist Roa. This mysterious Belgian muralist has created hundreds of murals through Europe. He has also traveled to other locations around the world.

His preferred forms of methods to paint are by using spray paint or acrylic paint. In fact, most of his work is created through a mixture of black, white, and gray scale colors. At times, the muralist prefers to sketch, especially those large murals. He first began his artistic career by paining buildings and warehouses in his hometown. Nowadays, his distinctive black and white style street artwork can found worldwide.

Some major cities, where his work can be found include London, New York, Berlin, Warsaw, Madrid, Moscow, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Paris.

Muralist Roa's true obsession for animals is unparalleled and he uses this obsession to paint for inspiration. Roa uses native animals based on the location he is painting in. For example, if he goes to a specific location filled with roosters, like Mexico, then he will paint a rooster. Not only does this make him a standout artist, but his attention to detail is phenomenal. He truly has a pure passion for painting. Roa simply paints to paint- no other reason.

Roa’s work has been turning heads across the street art community by bringing birds, rodents, and other animals back into the consciousness in the areas they once inhabited. Although the street art is generally conveyed in a very natural matter, even his dead animal paintings seem at peace. Not only that, but his extra large scale black and while local rodents may be viewing the image at work from nearby.

Roa’s anonymity has kept his work and his spirit free.""

Inspired, always , by the magnificent Venice carnival.

This celebration lasts for several weeks in February and March, ending with Martedi Grasso, or Mardi Gras, which marks the beginning of Lent. The festival supposedly began in 1162, in celebration of Venice’s victory over Aquileia. However, mask-wearing in the Venetian lagoon could go back as far as the 9th century.

In a city with such a rigid social system, Carnival fever conferred many cherished freedoms. The most important was anonymity. For some weeks of the year, anyone could be who they wanted to be, whether it was a peasant mixing with aristocrats at their masked balls.

At its decadent height during the 18th century, Carnival would begin the first Sunday in October, taking over just about half the year. The Catholic Church eventually had to forbid Carnivalesque celebrations on holy days, meaning that there was a lot of celebration going on, even on holy days. The comedies, masquerades and gambling houses would draw all kinds of international visitors to the city.

Unfortunately, all this came to an end when the Serenissima Republic fell to Napoleon in 1797. It was an era in which many old ways of life were coming to an end and modernity arrived in Venice in its own way. The Carnival was banned and all the celebrations and rituals associated with it were shut down. Venice was independent no more.

The Carnival wouldn’t be brought back until 1979 after two centuries of war and tumult, when the government began to redevelop the modern Carnival by bringing back the traditional events. Carnival season now floods the streets with tourists and mask shops have popped up all over the city, revitalizing the craft. It’s a postmodern version of the pre-modern festival.

As I am sure alot of people have seen the things posted in many groups about myself and other individuals. I would like to shed light on not the issue of my own anonymity in SL being blown to bits, but the whole issue of Cyber Bullying.

I feel this is something that is not taken seriously, heck, i was one of them. I have always heard about it, but it wasn't something i had known someone close to me dealing with or even myself.

As I've been dealing with some back lash from an individual over certain relationships i am in a Virtual world. I would encourage everyone to not let these people have the upper hand in your situation, and go to LL, report them. If its worse than just in world go to your authorities, or higher to make a case to get these folks the help they need to stop further behavior towards others.

As for me, there is nothing people can say about me that will shame me. I am not rich, I am not a super model, but i am happy and am finding my enjoyment.

I am strong. I am Beautiful. I am Who I Am.

And i am finding my place along with the rest of us.

Be safe out there.

Truly Yours, Harper Lexington

The Prisoner

You have watched me, safe in your anonymity

I have dreamed you, held in your security

Some people believe a photograph traps your mortal soul

Your eyes ARE the camera and you've TAKEN hold

And you captured me

I need you to take control

I am a prisoner of no confidence

You've entered me now make me whole

Every place I go I feel your lenses trained on me

This distant concentration takes away my energy

Your image burns it's negative

Behind my waking eyes

Then the night comes and you stalk your prize

And you captured me

I need you to take control

I am a prisoner of no confidence

You've entered me now make me whole

Some people believe a photograph traps your mortal soul

Your eyes were the camera and you've taken hold

And you captured me

I need you to take control

I am a prisoner of no confidence

You've entered me now make me whole

Buren is a town and municipality in the Betuwe region of the Netherlands. The name originated from the word the Dutch word “buren”, which means neighbour.

The earliest known settlement of the region occurred as early as 772.The castle was built by the Lords of Buren and was first mentioned in 1298. The town was granted city rights in 1395 by Sir Alard IV of Buren which led to the construction of a defensive wall and a moat, significant portions of which still stand. In 1492, the region was promoted to a county but had limited economic influence due to its geographic isolation. By 1574, the previously Catholic parish church of Saint-Lambert became Calvinist Reformed Protestant.

The Castle eventually came into the possession of the House of Orange, the royal family of the Netherlands. The Dutch royal family has been known to use the name van Buren as an alias to give themselves some degree of anonymity. William III of England obtained the title Buren. The Dutch royal family, still use this as a title. The Castle was gradually demolished between 1804 and 1883. The eighth president of the United States, Martin Van Buren, traced his ancestry to inhabitants of the city, who had taken the surname Van Buren after relocating to the Dutch colony of New Netherland in what is now the state of New York.

On Sunday, July 26, 2020, after 14 years in anonymity, I learned the name of this lovely town on the Catalan coast. I shot this on my way from Barcelona to my ancestral home town of Palamos. Thank you so much Toni for sharing this information with me.

Flames so hot that they turn blue

Palms reflecting in your eyes, like an endless summer

That's the way I feel for you

If time stood still, I'd take this moment

Make it last forever

Your halo's full of fire

I'm rising up, rising up

My hot love's full of fire

Love's full of fire

Ahhh

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

Screw your anonymity

Loving me is all you need to feel

Like I do

We could slow dance to rock music

Kiss while we do it

Talk 'til we both turn blue

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

Leather black and eyes of blue (blue, blue, blue)

Sun reflecting in your eyes, like an easy rider

Life makes sense when I'm with you

Looking back, my past

It all seems stranger than a stranger

So let's dance in slow motion

Tear it up, tear it up

Let's dance by the ocean

Ahhh

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

Screw your anonymity

Loving me is all you need to feel

Like I do

We could slow dance to rock music

Kiss while we do it

Talk 'til we both turn blue

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

Oooh, you're cold as ice, baby

But when you're nice, baby

You're so amazing in every way

Oooh, you're cold as ice, baby

I don't wanna fight, baby

It's like I told you

If you stay, I'll stay

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

(Take it to the back if you really wanna talk)

Screw your anonymity

Loving me is all you need to feel

Like I do

We could slow dance to rock music

Kiss while we do it

Talk 'til we both turn blue

Baby, if you wanna leave

Come to California

Be a freak like me, too

I've been thinking a lot, looking at this picture. Every now and then, photos dictate a story to me. It is my avatar, again who with his physical action, surprises me. It's intriguing how the mind can mimic it. Several years ago, my marketing professor proposed an exercise. The windows of the living room were facing the street. He asked us to approach them. He told us to look at a beautiful woman who was waiting for the bus to arrive. Behind her there were several people in line. The question was: which one of you would dare to get off and talk to her? When you are 22 years old, we are more daring, so, I answered: I would dare, but what worried me, the people behind, they would surely be the ones who would call my attention, saying, "hey you have to make the line".

The professor looked at me, smiled, and said: it is possible, but also, it is possible, that the woman will receive you, with a rejection, or with a bad gesture. The problem would be that all the others would not only tell you to get in line, but they would laugh or make fun of you. She would immediately act upon you, the prejudices, the inhibitions, the doubts, etc. So they will not allow you to resolve the situation, freely. The professor suggested that we think about what would happen if we could send a kind of robot, no different from a human being, and that from the window we could use it as if it were our other self, and with a remote control, we would speak with our voice. It was a mental exercise, without a doubt.

So I ask: what do you think would happen? My answer was that I was not at risk and that my anonymity would allow me to say what I needed to say, no matter what she and the others said. Many years passed and I always remember that exercise. I'm sorry I don't have her phone, because I would tell her that she was ahead of her time. But also, that it is incredible how the anonymity behind, the robot (Sic) Avatar, could be used with cruelty, without measuring the consequences of our actions, that a lot of damage could be done.

I always think that if it had been possible that day, my other self, cybernetic, would have been kind, sweet, and above all polite. I never doubted it. I testify that what I had imagined I put into action. But something, the exercise, I do not contemplate. Human behaviour is, in many cases, absolutely detestable. I would not like to imagine, if a future, we must protect ourselves from non-humans. Several I know are enough for me.

He pensado mucho, observando esta foto.

I

ask

you to

mind our

earth, heed

our existence

upon it, care for

our lives and all that

will occur if we cannot

consider beyond ourselves,

if we are guided by uncertainty,

when we fear the unknown, when we

shun those who differ from us in skin color,

in sex, in persuasion, if we turn our eyes away,

when we dance upon the hidden strings of politicians

or cunning puppetmasters, when we swallow the lust of war,

when poets languish in isolation, without ear or encouragement, when we torture, when prejudice blinds us to the humanity of another, when our deluded misconceptions will go public with ready trigger finger, when we mistake violence for the solution, when we fail the worthy person, when we won't bother to look past the wheelchair and to whom he really is, to say his real name, when the most expected thing we will share with him is discrimination, when we forget that here in space we are in this together, when tomorrow is the day that old and young will die in roaring explosions, in quiet corners without notice, when people are driven from their homes, when women must live in fear, when we steal identities, when evil hides in anonymity, when we rest in apathy, indifferent to the pain of others, when our fellow creatures are in chains for our profit and amusement,

when hunger and hatred are accepted, when malice shrieks loud, when we cut baby girls due to generational gender inequality, from psychosexual ignorance and hard superstition; when we deny justice to one lonely voice, our world falls, stretching itself into a teardrop.

Teardrop - Doug Vinson

Special note: Davida Scheffers has lived her dream in winning a contest and the opportunity to play with the dutch Orchestra. Davida suffers from an extremely painful neuromuscular condition that derailed her career, and she thought she would never get to play in a professional orchestra again... The young blond lady is her daughter and was 18 years old that day.

Possibly one of the greatest defects in human behavior is betrayal. Antonym of loyalty, one of the best virtues of a human being. Those who have been betrayed will understand my anger that day. My gaze, almost as if it were his, could read the damage caused. The moral betrayal twinned with the economic one is an explosive cocktail for the soul. And that it came from a friend, made him almost indigestible. I remember imagining revenge, it was liberating. No doubt the traitor does not hesitate to do so, because it is in his genetics, there is no fault in them. But for those of us who do not have such despicable behaviors, it is not easy to act with the same violence. While revenge has a sweet taste, it also means becoming people we are not. The implication of this type of action should have some kind of punishment and was willing to do so. Only the contemplative gaze of my dear friend, provoked in me some kind of questioning of the imagined. The calm slowly came back to me.

The real world is full of cruelty, and although you can see it in the eyes, it is sometimes difficult to anticipate. This little story is just that, a story of my personal life in reality. But I wanted to give a testimony, send a message to so many miserable beings who use Second Life to harm. Surely anonymity gives them a layer of coverage. But the mirror never lies, it always returns the true image.

Fortunately, neither I nor my friends or acquaintances suffered this. But I heard too much in this short time, for all those who have suffered something similar, my solidarity

There is always one to ruin it for everyone. In this case I refer to an unpleasant message received to my recent images depicting our planning for Christmas.

Not a comment, but a private message, that has been reported, which was upsetting.

When Charles Dickens wrote the line … "If they would rather die, then let them do so and reduce the surplus population" he would have had no idea that in the future, people will still think this way. Sadly, they do, and hide behind the anonymity of social media technology.

I have spent some time since I received this, considering just wiping my images from Flickr, and indeed the blog and closing them down. It is however a sad reality that if we put our head above the parapet, especially in this social media world, you do become a target for abuse and ridicule.

My hope has always been to share our story, so that others may take comfort from knowing they are not alone in their own challenges. I have considered it worth sharing this story, and the inference of what was said as people, in particular, those with a disability, do receive terrible prejudice and abuse and it would be easy to abandon everything, and the wonderful friendships created, for what Dickens would also remind us of 'Ignorance and Want'

This is not the first time we have been targeted through what I post here. I thank all the many genuine friends I have here, you have enriched our lives so much through your kindness. I will not close down what I share, but I would urge caution and awareness of unwarranted contact you may experience yourselves. In flickr, we delete, block, report and move on. Elsewhere we take similar actions.

Above all, we focus on the positive and genuine interactions with caring people.

Thank you for listening. Have a lovely day :-)

Six of Rajasthan's hill forts have made it to Unesco's World Heritage List: Chittorgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort (Rajsamand), Ranthambore Fort (Sawai Madhopur), Jaisalmer Fort, Amber Fort (Jaipur) and Gagron Fort (Jhalawar).

The second-longest continuous wall on the planet protects a hidden secret in the deserts of India.

great-wall-india

The wall that surrounds the ancient fort of Kumbhalgarh is one of the best-kept secrets in India, and perhaps the world. Protecting a massive fort that contains over 300 ancient temples, the wall was constructed half a millennium ago in tandem with Kumbhalgarh Fort itself.

Often referred to as Kumbhalgarh Wall or simply as Kumbhalgarh Fort as a whole, the wall is perhaps best known by its most sensational — and fitting — name: The Great Wall of India. This is appropriate, as the wall extends over 36 Kilometers around the perimeter of the fort, making it the second-longest continuous wall on the planet after the far more well-known Great Wall of China.

Its anonymity is mystifying, since this is no crumbling line of bricks fascinating only by description. The wall is massive, and breathtakingly majestic as it snakes through valleys and along mountaintops, again bearing a striking resemblance to its cousin in China. At its widest sections, the wall is 15 meters thick, and beautifully masoned with thousands of stone bricks and decorative flourishes along the top, making this just as attractive as a tourist destination as it once was effective as a deterrent.

Anonymer Urnenhain Hamburg Ohlsdorf

There are a few of these striking ducks now, at Bushy park. Normally shy and retiring, staying out of trouble, around the edges of the ponds, especially at the present, as the park becomes more popular with the warmer weather. We found this pair in a quiet section of a woodland area, along a narrow strip of water running perpendicular, and close to a path, lying down afforded me some anonymity from the ducks. They were protected by bushes and overhanging trees, but very close. Slowly...... they drifted away, from the noise....... of the clattering shutter......

Mmmmmm.....Z6.....maybe......

I read an article recently about the frustrations of the average working person. One of the biggest, and most common, was the feeling of not being known, their work not being seen, feeling like "just a body", a vague and fuzzy presence among so many others.

Why is honesty such a difficulty for a large number of people online? Now, there are several degrees of deceit, a spectrum if you will. It seems to me that sometimes people want to please so they tell you what they think you want to hear. We can call them white lies and I think that many people do this without even realising a) that they are doing it and b) the impact that maintaining those lies can have. Some people aren’t honest because they want to keep certain aspects of their real life to themselves. We all want a certain level of anonymity online and it’s our right to do so but personally I’d rather someone said that they don’t feel comfortable revealing information rather than making up ‘alternative facts’.

The anonymity of this being remained forever. - Part 4 of my small collection of pictures inspired by a particular ''person'' in recurring dreams as a child. He walked away, staring at my bedroom window.

In from Williamsburg Bridge,Hopper depicts the austere façades of four apartment buildings and reduces the suspension steel bridge that gives the painting its name to the margins.Completed in 1903 and connecting Brooklyn with Manhattan, the structure is indicated only by the unobtrusive taking rising at a slight diagonal along the bottom of the canvas. As opposed to focusing on the bridge that facilitates movement in and out of the city,Hopper creates and image absent of noise or motion. He emphasizes the alienation and anonymity of urban life by including a single figure,a woman sitting alone in a top story window.
