This was taken from the 57th storey of Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observatory, Singapore - an aerial shot of the Singapore metropolis at the Marina Bay area.
Tripods are not permitted at the skypark. This shot was taken with the camera mounted on a gorillapod instead. I would have liked this image to have greater sharpness and clarity.
Taken during the evening blue hour, December 2011, Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observatory, Singapore.
Shot in raw, post-processed using Viewer NX2 that comes with Nikon D7000, saved in jpeg.

You are capable of more than you know. Choose a goal that seems right for you and strive to be the best, however hard the path. Aim high. Behave honorably. Prepare to be alone at times, and to endure failure. Persist! The world needs all you can give.

I am posting a set of 3 shots. I have disabled comments for Notre Dame I and Notre Dame II.
Notre Dame I:
This image features some architectural detail on the Notre Dame cathedral exterior. Taken in the day, handheld.
Notre Dame II:
This is a very common view of Notre Dame. I wanted to capture it in a slightly different light. Instead of posting a blue hour shot from this location I have selected to post this shot when the lights first came on - it gave a mysterious yellow/green glow.
Saint-Sulpice:
This is an aerial shot taken from the Montparnasse Tower.
** NOTE: When I initially posted this shot, I had mistakenly thought that the prominant structure to the right of this image is Notre Dame. Many thanks to Carl Larson www.flickr.com/photos/clarsonx/ for taking the trouble to point out that the structure is actually Saint-Sulpice. Carl - thank you very much. I appreciate that. **

Through the plane window: Hipstamatic iPhone app, Dreampop flash on. Most of the time this flash produces fairly subtle effect. While this is, obviously, not one of these times, I kind of like it. Flashier on black

This shot was taken from the Equinox Restaurant which is located at the 70th storey of Swissotel. This picture was shot through glass, with the camera handheld. I would not have opted for this if I had a choice.
For this shot, I chose to give it a de-saturated look.

Whakaari/White Island is an active andesite stratovolcano, situated 48 km from the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand, in the Bay of Plenty. This picture was taken from a helicopter on the way in to the island.
This shot shows the easily recognizable Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel, Artscience Museum, and the Esplanade. In the foreground, the cluster of buildings with the red roof is Raffles Hotel, named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore. Raffles Hotel, declared as a national monument in 1987, is a luxury hotel in Singapore. That thin white tall structure in the image is the Civilian War Memorial, a memorial to the civilian victims of the Japanese Occupation.

I would like to begin a series/set showcasing HDB flats in Singapore. For the benefit of non-locals, HDB stands for Housing and Development Board (HDB). HDB plans and develops public housing towns in Singapore. Approximately 80% of Singaporeans stay in HDB flats/apartments.
I will add to this series/set gradually. The first of the series, this shot shows the afterglow over the HDB flats at Henderson. I wanted to capture sunset and the blue hour that followed. The blue hour that evening was a purple-pink instead.

Taken from the cockpit of plane flying from the Boeing-King's County airfield to Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands! A zillion thanks to Al Vermeulen (whose plane it is) and Christopher de Kadt and Gina Morris for making this awesome flight possible! Below to the left can be seen the Space Needle and the Seattle Center, with the gaudily coloured Frank Gehry Experiential Music Program Museum/
Minneapolis is the county seat of Hennepin County, and the larger of the Twin Cities, the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the United States.
As of 2015, Minneapolis is the largest city in the state of Minnesota and 46th-largest in the United States with a population of 410,939. Minneapolis and Saint Paul anchor the second-largest economic center in the Midwest, after Chicago.
Minneapolis lies on both banks of the Mississippi River, just north of the river's confluence with the Minnesota River, and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital. The city is abundantly rich in water, with 13 lakes, wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks and waterfalls, many connected by parkways in the Chain of Lakes and the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway. It was once the world's flour milling capital and a hub for timber. The city and surrounding region is the primary business center between Chicago and Seattle, with Minneapolis proper containing America's fifth-highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies. As an integral link to the global economy, Minneapolis is categorized as a global city.
In terms of its number of openly gay politicians, gay wedding ceremonies, pride events and gay-inclusive religious organizations relative to the size of the total population of the city, Minneapolis has one of the largest LGBTQ populations in the U.S. Noted for its strong music and performing arts scenes, Minneapolis is home to both the award-winning Guthrie Theater and the historic First Avenue nightclub. Reflecting the region's status as an epicenter of folk, funk, and alternative rock music, the city served as the launching pad for several of the 20th century's most influential musicians, including Bob Dylan and Prince.
The name Minneapolis is attributed to Charles Hoag, the city's first schoolteacher, who combined mni, a Dakota Sioux word for water, and polis, the Greek word for city.
