“I want a one-bedroom house with cup holders. I want to live in my car, and make the road my home.”

― Jarod Kintz

I can feel the adventure of traveling in my bones and my thoughts. I have to leave soon for being on a Roadtrip again. I want to explore unseen places and breath fresh air.

I love to see this early bird again.

My mother died a couple of days ago. We knew it was coming but just not quite that soon. You never do, I suppose. She was ready to go and had been for a while so in the end it was a blessing. At 89 years of age, she had lived a grand adventure. Born in Indonesia, surviving WW II in Europe, as well as the famine that came afterwards, raising a family in Liberia, and finally emigrating to Canada. It wasn't always easy but it was well lived.

I had taken this photo a few days before her death. The young lady was clambering over rocks in fading light and despite the occasional stumbling that made me hold my breath, managed her footing just fine. Looking back at it now, I'm sure she's on the way to a grand adventure of her own.

Alaska presents some really great opportunities to experience glaciers. While taking a glacier cruise seems to be a popular option, I tried some other exciting things. Hiking up Matanushka glacier was really cool. I encountered a climber on my way and put my zoom lens to good use. For other glacier adventures pictures, check out www.sagarmukala.com

One of my favorite places from our summer road trip to Oregon was the stunning Sparks Lake near Bend, OR. It’s a bit of a drive to reach here, especially after waking up at 4 in the morning but I was determined to get to the location before sunrise. Which I managed with my grumpy and very cold wife who actively ignored me while I kept up my enthusiastic banter about the beauty of the lake. Once I reached the Lake I had a hard time finding a good spot for a good shot and was getting a bit frustrated as the sunrise time was quickly approaching.

All the good locations seemed to be near a cliff that looked a bit daunting to scale with camera and tripod. After wasting another 5-10 minutes I decided to scramble up the steep rock walls to the top of the cliffs. Once I got to the top of the rocks I saw a nice paved path meandering behind the rocks to the parking lot. It was a bit of a duh! moment but I managed to find a couple of stunning spots and the sun obliged by providing some stunning light on Mt Bachelor.

Best on black.

I have a few shots I took last fall that I have been a little unsure of....since I don't really have anything new worth posting....
