The sun was up, well in the UK perhaps, the wind had eased and it was time to hit the slopes. So skis & kit on I was away. Only 4-5 Hrs of daylight and no time to waste. A strange day as directly behind me while taking this scene was a clear blue sky as witnessed in the second of todays postings with them being taken about two minutes apart. At least you don't have to rush to catch the sunrise/sunset as it lasts most of the day due to the fact the sun stays below the horizon.

I decided I would dedicate this picture to Ray Bradbury, who I found out passed on today. He's my all-time favorite author and I can't even begin to describe how much of an influence he had on my life when I was growing up. The Martian Chronicles was the first great science fiction book I ever read, and I'll never forget how much it caused me to fall in love with the genre. He was a visionary and taught me how to never be afraid to dream and to never be afraid to use your imagination to its fullest.
On a side note, this was suppose to be a levitation photo (I've never done one before), but I ended up losing my remote in this monstrosity of a field right after I had finally gotten everything set up. I spent an hour looking for it, but eventually gave up and just decided to do what I could with manual focusing the camera. So this is the result of my uncanny ability to lose and misplace everything I lay my hands on. I'm still pretty happy with it though. I had never done a backlit sunset picture before. Anyway, enjoy.

www.thetravelpictures.com: A sign warning about snowmobiles on top of the Yllas fjell in the Finnish Lapland. The slope is quite steep, but somebody might ride his snowmobile there. - ift.tt/2vRenws //
This beautiful building was directly opposite our hotel balcony in the resort of Yllas in Northern Finland (Lapland). Taken at 10:29 local 08:29Uk time this is what passes as sun up over there. The light can be quite magical at times but challenging too with this one requiring a tripod mounted 4sec exposure. Blue hour lasts most of the 6 Hrs of daylight :o)
