This time of the year. Autumn and shorter days before the first snow up here in the low mountains in Central Norway.
In our mountain house the temperature is now under 0C each night and the first wet snow is expected within a few days.
At this fine summer day we made a biking tour up to the summit of this low mountain in Valdres. We was offered a fine vista to the big plain Flotenhovda and the sourrounding mountains.
Our collabsible travel EL-bikes are not real montain bikes - but does a fine job on the small gravel roads in this area. In this up and down terrain the batteries will last app. 40km - good enough for us.
Biking around Tisleifjorden. Part V
In the end of the fjord we cross over from Golsfjell to Lykkja in Valdres. The lowest place, in the small valley we cross, is where we bike over this little bridge with a creek apparently coming from the mountain Skogshorn (in the back).
On my photo and travelblog you can also enjoy a panorama and an old barn with some trees on its roof:

Just a blue hour as the day ends up at our place in the lower mountains of Norway southwest.
Have a fine weekend
Explore #46 for January 19th, 2012 (at some point).
Thank you for the faves and the nice comments! :-)
An interesting observation is that colors are reversed in the secondary rainbow. The reason for that is that secondary rainbow is caused by a double reflection of sunligt inside the raindrops.
Skogshorn 1,728 m (5,669 ft), also written Skogshødn, is a mountain on the border between the municipalities Hemsedal and Valdres, in the counties Buskerud and Oppland respectively.

Up in our mountain house in the lower central mountains, Norway we woke up this morning to -5C with the frost mist hanging over the little nearby pond.
Winter is ready to take over the landscape ☺️
Perfect stillness a day in July where the big mountain Skudshorn is reflected in the lake.
We are on our way up to Tyin and Eidsbugarden in Jotunheimen for biking some 40km on the finr day.
These days is spent at our moutain house app 1 hr from this place where the photo is taken. With no wifi the updates will be sporadic as the mobile line available is quite expensive.
A Sunday in the end of June we pass an old mountain farm on our way along the valley Tisleidalen on our bikes. From the gravel road we have a fine view over to the low mountains on the other side of the valley.

Late March, still more than 1m of snow in the mountain-area. It's near +20 degC in the sun, but nights are biting cold and leave an icy surface. It's like your skis fly across a shiny white dessert. I love it.
Biking around Tisleifjorden. Part VI - Final leg
It's been a fine tour to go around the 38km of Tisleifjorden (Tisleia lake). At this point we pass the small landstripe between Tisleifjorden and Flyvatnet before we follow the lake down to our starting point. Quite idyllic scenery along the route.
It was a fine summer day for this tour up in the mountains in Hemsedal and Valdres

I am up at my mountain cottage and waiting for some nice weather with a touch of summer. But for a long periode there is mainly rain and lots of water everywhere - like here in Høgefoss in the neighboorhood. Nice for a photostop when passing on a grey and rather cold day in June.

Another mountain lake that we like to bike around. There is 3 lakes North Mid and South in the Syndin mountain area in Valdres. This is the one in the South: Sore Syndin, the smallest one - only some 12 to 14 km to bike around.
A fine day but with lot of wind this day in July.
In the photo you can see some of the gravel roads going around the lake.

The last days we have had winter Holidays here in Norway. And as so often in the winter we like to spend some days up in the mountains for ski activities: Alpine or Cross-Country. The latter absolute relaxing as you can ski, as here, under a fair sun and enjoy the peace in the nature while using the well prepared ski tracks in the terrain.
Norway, Valdresflya, 2007. One of my favorite places.

Etnedal Valdres.
Valdres is the best place you can still experience the old Norwegian tradition with mountain farming. The precious grass down in the valleys was saved for winter supplies, while the cows were brought up to the mountain farms during the hot summer months. It is great to see these lucky cows enjoying their summer vacation up in these beautiful landscapes.
