A look down in the valley.

A shot taken looking up at the Beetham Tower in Manchester on an overcast day, I've given this a Gothic(ish) treatment to enhance the futuristic dystopian feel.

I processed this while watching Maleficent for the first time. I imagine there are lots of faerie folk on the far side of this mountain.

Glastonbury Tor ,Somerset ,UK

The soft green hill of the Tor, crowned with its enigmatic tower, has become a symbol of Glastonbury. It dominates the town and the surrounding landscape, and is the first sign to the traveller that Glastonbury is drawing near.

Centuries of legends and folklore have gathered around this Tor. In their various ways, these tales all demonstrate one thing – that the Tor is a place where the veil between the worlds is thin. Strange experiences here are usually interpreted according to the beliefs of the times. An otherworldly being met on the Tor might be called a fairy in one century, a nature spirit in another and ET in more recent years.

Like Glastonbury, the Tor has come to host a large variety of mystical beliefs. Nature mythology, paganism, Christian legends, and newer ideas about life the universe and everything have all found a comfortable, nurturing niche for themselves within Tor lore.

great hair day.

A classic view of St Pauls with the Millennium Bridge in the foreground, but I'd never really got a shot of it I was totally happy with. I think this will do for now.

Durdle Door, Dorset, UK.

The third in my Dorset portfolio.

We were looking through Landscape Photographer of the Year Book yesterday (from which I draw so much inspiration) and discovered the sheer volume of photographs from this section of the UK. A truly outstanding area of natural beauty. My visit here was quite an eye opener.

I hope you like this shot of Durdle Door. It is a very long exposure taken during the late afternoon. My aim was to convey the breeze by using the grasses in the foreground to blur. I also wanted to display the tranquillity of the place and opted for a 10 stop ND filter to smooth out the moving elements (sea and a few people that were on the beach).
