Yet another beach at sunset, this time Trinidad, California. Moments before it was busy with surfers going home and dog walkers, for a moment it was deserted, then it got busy again.
Shot this a while ago on a Northern California trip. A small book by Carr Clifton (a real life working pro you might look up to) was what inspired me to visit this place. Seeing the lupines here worked out as a nice foreground lure and it was pretty windy but still went for it. I'm surprised I was able to catch them sharp in the frame but now when I look at them I can feel them. Sorry no glow added here, don't use that.. . ever. I do have a few more sitting in the chamber from this spot and hope to share them sometime soon.

Walter and I planned to go to the Redwoods for the long weekend to shoot rhodies and fog. Our plans were thwarted so it turned out to be a Coastal/Culinary weekend :) I don't usually shoot night scenes but the moon was begging for some attention.
Trinidad State beach is a great playground for landscape photographers. Even without a dramatic sky there are a lot possibilities to get a nice photo there. Here I composed directly into the sun to get some shadows which help to create some leading lines into the picture. I used a lee 0.6 soft and a lee 0.6 hard GND here in combination but also needed some additional exposures for focus stacking and dynamic range. A bit of postprocessing work but I'm quite used to it ;-)
I also recorded a little post processing tip of how to remove lense flares in an image.
cheers
This photo was taken at Trinidad state beach in northern California. It's a great location with many compositional opportunities with all the rocks jutting out of the sand. As usual for this trip there was no dramatic light during sunset but I waited long enough to get this subtle twilight glow.

View of Trinidad mountain from the Cochamó river's edge. Full moon lights from the skies and a led flashlight from the ground.
Trinidad pier, Humboldt county, northern California. 2 photos, I went almost local this weekend, found a scenic spot, but screwed up the almost full moon exposure, flickr decided the put the version without the moon on top, probably for the better.
